SKY Q Vs VIRGIN MEDIA
Discussion
Had sky Q for years but price increases drove me to virgin. Very impressive virgin support. Things like free WiFi boosters if rooms have poor signal. Much more stable to picture - no atmospheric interference from poor weather affecting satellite dish. Virgin WiFi is fibre to cabinet (very close to us).
However, the big difference is the extent of cabling - internal and external that virgin needs for tv in multiple rooms. It was a bit like going back to the 1980s to see cables being fixed round the house at dpm level and then up to bedrooms. Mrs Rompy was very apprehensive but installer was great and cabling is discreet.
As for interface etc. we had to get used to one remote in the lounge. Home page and guide all very similar.

Long term Sky customer.... too bloody long tbh. On Sky Q with a pretty complete package and a couple of mini boxes.
Recently moved to fibre (non-Sky) and a bit of hassle reconnecting minis etc reminded me of the frequent "not connected to Sky Q box" b
ks. The minis were ethernet connected, now they're not they're not, although I could tie them to mesh points. It wasn't perfect then anyway!
For those with Sky stream, how well do the Sky stream boxes connect to your home (non-Sky) WiFi? Do you get lots of drops/outtages or does it work well - better than the damn minis - like it should?
Virgin - there's mention of cables, but I thought they were streaming now (a la Sky) - is that not the case?
I've no experience of Virgin since the actual cable days. but I'm not averse to giving Sky the finger.
I'm keen to get the system that works most flawlessly i.e. connects and doesn't keep dropping signal. Yes Sky, that's you - my internet connection is fast and my WiFi signal is strong so stop bloody telling me it isn't!
