Cleaning gutters DIY (no ladder)

Can you borrow a ladder someone? Personally i don t lend out my tools but ladders are difficult to break/ abuse so i don t mind people using them.
My reluctance to use a ladder is also born by my general approach not to use a ladder unless it's a step ladder to a relatively small height.JoshSm said:
It depends.
A long pole like for cleaning windows, a hose with nozzle, the U thing from a washing machine drain hose and some wire can knock up a contraption for jetting the crap out of gutters.
Bit messy though.
Yes, that's what I need. Hence any recommendations of what people have used would be greatA long pole like for cleaning windows, a hose with nozzle, the U thing from a washing machine drain hose and some wire can knock up a contraption for jetting the crap out of gutters.

I have a bloke who comes with an industrial hoover and a long pipe with a hooked end, sucks all the debris out, takes 10 minutes and costs £50
Is the right answer if you don't already have the tools. Not sure where you are, but plenty of companies out there offering gutter vac services.

That sounds like an excellent way to get water into places you don’t want water.A long pole like for cleaning windows, a hose with nozzle, the U thing from a washing machine drain hose and some wire can knock up a contraption for jetting the crap out of gutters.

10 years ago I moved to a house with lots of nearby trees. After paying someone to clear the gutters the 1st year I decided to get the tools to diy

Thats fine ,not everyone is a fan of heights ( my wife’s limit is low step ladder ).
As said plenty of people with the hover on a pole that will do it

How many meters tubing are you using with that vac?
Also similar scenario here where I have lots of nearby trees so think I could end up clearing the gutters 3 or 4 times a year.

I have an old Titan wet vac atr home, was £40 years ago and still sucks bloody hard, much better than the much more expensive ones my other half insists she buys.
The titans are ace , but are loud and brutal
The poles are great, but some setups can take a bit of strength/balance , depending on setup
I dont mind ladders, but if I dealing with significant annual leaves Id get a cheap vac setup.

Yes and a great way to get covered in the crap that's shot out of the gutter - Which is generally nasty - think of all that bird poo off your roof...JoshSm said:

Forgot to say I also purchased garden pond hose like this which was longer than the titan hose and larger diameter so less prone to blocking.

You will also need something like this, check the size to match whichever poles you purchase.

I’ve been here
I bought an extendable aluminium brush that the hosepipes connects to.
It was so heavy and cold and the water runs right down your arm inside your t shirt and it’s ice cold
In the end got a bloke in did it from the ground with a pole and some chemicals and a brush. Was much

That looks interesting. I do mine off a ladder but they're a long way up, and I'm getting less happy about doing it, so it's good to see there's a workable ground-based solution that's not too expensive. This is where the lost art of looking after tradesmen comes in. my window cleaner knows he can ask for clean water any time and I often make him a brew whilst filling his bucket. a small Christmas tip of a tenner and he will happily drag any leaves out of my gutter whenever I ask..what goes around and all that
