You probably know already, but lift up the rear seat to check for holes.

They rot out.

Ah, Ok. Nope I have not done any real investigating on that. I will now tho, so thank you.

Basically this is going to be a Winter car only. Trying to locate a nice original example, swap the shocks, wheels / tyres etc.

Thank you again

Assume you mean the earlier model not the latest one. Check the boot floor carefully for rot. Same with the panel behind the headlights (hard to spot, take a torch when you view) which is also a pain to fix.
A 2 inch lift suspension is about as far as you’d want to go and will really be benefited by castor correction bushes in the radius arms and a longer panhard arm. Body lift is pointless unless you want to fit massive tyres. To be honest the lift is pointless unless you are doing a lot of off roading, they are great standard and even with the lift you’ll still ground the diff out on deep ruts.
They can suffer badly from ‘death wobble’ if the front swivels pins are worn, so make sure you get over 40 mph on a test drive!
They are a piece of cake to work on mechanically, everything is small and light. Wheel bearings are a pain to do though.
Jimnybits are a good source of parts.
They are tiny inside. If you are anywhere near 6’ you’ll want a set of extended seat rails.
Boot space is good for a carrier bag or 2 if the rear seats are up.
Cracking little motors, but they are silly money for what you get.

Bigjimny forum is pretty good. Great fun without a lift and ATs. Extremely capable.
Tiny inside. But there is enough room to wear a top hat.

I have a jimmy and an SJ. They do get in your blood…
