Hello hive mind.

So, seeking any advice or experience on this: It's time for some new rear tyres on my Evora S. It's a standard car with the standard 255-35-ZR19 96Y Pirelli P-Zero tyres on currently.

So looking at these existing tyres which are as said the standard fitment, there is a surprising quantity of what the street parlance would call "stretch" on the tyre. As in, it looks like this factory fit tyre is undersized to the width of the rim.

I understand that this can be a deliberate choice, as it affects the sidewall stiffness and the way the tyre behaves under load particularly in cornering. Would I therefore be mad to fit something wider? There is a 265-35-ZR19 98Y Pirelli P-Zero available which would be a compatible fit, just with the extra centimeter or so of contact patch and less stretch.

Anyone done this? Would it in fact have any effect at all, positive or negative?

It's hard to get a good picture of the effect, but this was an attempt.
