James May, the Reassembler
Discussion
I've watched a couple of episodes of this, in which James May reassembles things that have been totally disassembled to their constituent parts. I watched the reassemble of a Triang/Hornby locomotive and a Kenwood Chef food mixer. I'm slightly shocked how interesting he makes it, talking about the development of products during the 1950s and sixties. Even the early development of mains electricity supply and the various plugs used before the 3 pin plug we know emerged as the standard. He's very knowledgeable with many interesting titbits of historical knowledge and has gone up in my estimation. He's clearly very comfortable in this role, something I was never sure about when he was on Top Gear.
I guess we all had our favourites back in the Top Gear days; the chemistry between them though was something I didn t think was repeated with later presenter lineups. However, for me, James was the only one who didn t come across as a bit of a twonk which seems to be borne out by his post TG progams.
