I'm a long time watcher of F1 and am thinking of going Silverstone for the F1 this year. As a newbie is there any advice for buying tickets, accommodation, tips, tricks and general wisdom? Looking to avoid being a total numpty and make the most of what will hopefully be a great day

Silverstone would be low on my list of races to goto, can you make it a trip away and go to on of the continental European ones.

Silverstone is an amazing experience, the last time I went was 2021 when they did the Covid pass trial malarkey so some of this might not be relevant.

We watched from Club Corner (for the GP) so only saw “the crash” in the big screen. We did have a view of the grid and the podium which was cool. Having the GS ticket meant we could get into any GS on the Friday and Saturday… useful for the Sprint and the Qual sessions.

2021 … Weather was boiling … you need tons of sun cream but might also need a kagool(!!!).

Food is mega expensive… but it is what it is. It’s going to cost so just budget accordingly and you won’t be disappointed.

Car Parking… each time I have gone I have always got to the track dead early (before 7am) and waited to get in… almost front of the queue. In fact I have always parked in the main car park by the main entrance… can’t recall the car park number). Getting out is fun… don’t plan anything Sunday evening and you will be fine… patience and a sense of humour is needed.

Booking tickets I think is dead simple now… I am
A complete Luddite and managed easily. Look for covered grand stands in case of food or bad weather… and check YT for views from your intended Stand.

As for accom… we stayed in the easy hotel in MK in 21. Cheap and cheerful, and what, 30 min drive to the circuit. Before, I think 2018 (Vettel won) we stayed in a b&b near Brackley. Booking.com is useful… I would book a couple of places that have free cancellation… just in case one happens to cancel on you!

I have never camped … someone here will have the low down.

My advice… book it and enjoy it. My wife hated F1 but I dragged her along and she became quite addicted. We took my FiL as a birthday present but he fell asleep during the race while sat in Club Corner… he is a bit deaf but just indicates the noise ain’t what it used to be!

Grandstand def worth it… the crowds on the Sunday are just mental. Always nice to guarantee a seat I think!

Tempted to go myself …..

Big F1 fan here, but was more of an arm chair supporter. Until the OH took me for my birthday a couple of years back.

Admittedly, we haven't gone GS or GA, she took me to one of the hospitality ones, which is great, but viewing elsewhere will 100% be better.

We enjoy having a few drinks, plenty of tasty food & going to the music/interviews afterwards. The tickets are pricey for the weekend, but it means we don't have to pay for any food/drinks, we arrive on the Friday & leave on the Monday so getting in/out is relatively pain free as we stay within walking distance.
