About half an hour ago I heard what sounded like a WW2 bomber going over. I was surprised as it's thick overcast and I thought they don't fly warbirds in bad weather. So I got onto Flightradar and found that it was a DC-6B on its way to Salzburg: https://www.flightradar24.com/OELDM/3dd2281e

It's operated by the Flying Bulls. Never heard of them but they have quite a line-up: https://www.flyingbulls.at/en/

I don't think they still have everything on that list.

Amazing how much profit there is in disgusting sugary drinks.

It's a remarkable business model. Somebody explained it; I can't remember the details but it's very little to do with selling soft drinks.

The hangars are incredible, well worth a visit (I've had a BTS of the engineering hangar - right place right time).

A couple of the DC6 pilots live in the UK, don't know why it was here though (they do all their own maintenance at SZG).

That was in 2017. Either their attention to detail is very poor or was it repaired?

It has been repaired/restored, it was meant to come to the UK last year but went tech before it’s flight to Midlands air fest at Ragley hall

I worked for Red Bull F1 from the start and we got a flight in it from Cranfield as it was in the country doing a few displays in 2018.
Flew over central London then over Silverstone before returning to Cranfield.
It was an amazing experience and I could not believe how the pilots were chucking it around whilst we were just wandering around the cabin.
I also visited Hangar 7 in 2016.
Here are a few pics from the day. Enjoy.

Is the bar original? But it looks more art deco than 1958.

Cambridge is not that far from Red Bull Racing at Milton Keynes, so maybe it was here for a related media event for the F1 team, although, Kidlington is maybe a bit closer, but fire cover and support is probably better at Cambridge?

Someone was asking about the bar, its not original, the interior is all new, from when Red Bull restored the aircraft 20 odd years ago.

It was actually the personal aircraft of Tito, when it was originally delivered to Yugoslavian Airlines when new in the late 50's.....IIRC.

Thanks. If you've read 'The Forgotten 500' you'll know how Tito managed to get Yugoslavia for the communists (as opposed to the allies). It's a good book and describes the rescue of downed aircrew from enemy territory with C47s.
