Today while I was driving my car I got the usual emissions error message.
I used the OBD to clear the error as I always do.
But as soon as the emissions error message appeared and even after clearing the code the 2005 vantage V8 car is very quiet even quieter than having removed fuse 22.

Now I fit 200 cell catalysts.
The noise my car makes was quite loud now after that emissions error appeared the car is very quiet much quieter than factory I can't understand if and what could have happened.

Can anyone help me?

Sorry for the title of the post but I forgot to enter

Has deafness been something that has happened in your family before? - smile
Sorry about that.

I can only think that coincidentally, your exhaust valves might have become stuck in the closed position.

Yes. I think too. With fuse 22 the machine is silent even above 4000.
Senzw has a decent noise but not as much as before
Do you know where the valves are located? I read that they can be unlocked.
Thank you
I also realize that if I put the fuse 22 strangely the noise becomes the same as before with the 200 cells, then they close
It is as if they were opened for a short time and then closed by the system

The valves are at the back of the exhaust box, you can see in this Bamford Rose video with exhaust out of the car

https://youtu.be/N-_5Qo4SLLs?si=jC97buUh_Mn2gvQa

Normal behaviour of the valve with fuse 22 in place would be:

Valves open and noisy on cold start up to 1500rpm
Valves closed and quieter from 1500rpm to 4000rpm
Valves open and more noise from 4000rpm upwards

If you fit a 2 way switch (like the CCcharger remote control switch) then its like you are putting the fuse 22 back in place or removing it by remote control. So you can have normal behaviour as above, or valves open and noisy all the time. Regardless of fuse in or out, its always open/noisy to 1500rpm.

A 3 way switch is different and requires splicing into the exhaust valve wiring, it would allow you to have valves always open, valves always closed (always quiet including from startup) and normal behaviour as above.

If you are getting MIL errors it may be a coincidence after you changed the cats. Could be one (or more) of the O2 sensors failing.

There are 4 sensors before and after the cats (upstream or downstream)

RHD car
Passenger Driver

Bank 2 Bank 1
Sensor 1 Upstream
Sensor 2 Downstream

e.g. "bank 1 sensor 2" message is the sensor on the drivers side downstream after the cat

Make a note of the sensor error messages you are getting and you can look them up (online, maybe someone has shared the Vantage the OBD manual ). If you get the same sensor error a few times, it could be worth changing that sensor. You can find the generic O2 sensors online much cheaper than official Aston Martin parts.

I had a 4.3 Vantage for 9 years\83k miles and during that time it had all of the O2 sensors replaced.

Thank you very much for ls reply. I tried to insert the fuse and I will take it out. The noise changes slightly. With the fuse it is always silent even when cold and over 4000. So block. Not a little noisier but as if the old OEM catalytic converters were installed. With the 200 and even with closed valves it should still make a good noise.
The
CCcharger remote control switch I ordered it but it seems useless if the valves are stuck in closing.
I think.

Deck I have already bought O2 spacers I will mount them tomorrow after checking That the valves are stuck.
Now I have a clearer understanding of the engine revs for opening and closing valves.
Thank you.
I just hope it's not a fault with the control unit. That's worse.

It does sound the valves are stuck closed. If the valves can be moved by hand, it could be the vacuum pump. See these threads, might help you understand where to look.

Everything solved. I did nothing but leave the car to rest for 1 hour, everything went back to normal. I don't understand how. Let's see how he behaves these days. It almost seems to me that the control unit had reset.

I suggest you though to crawl under the back of the car and give the valves a push, it's pretty easy. And since you are there, maybe even a spray of WD40 or something similar, just to keep things in shape, could not hurt.

Worst case scenario and the valves are about to go: you can buy them from the original manufacturer and solder them in place, I did that for one that had a broken rod on my previous Vantage. Here is my original thread with pictures & info.
