Been having this conversation with a lot of fellow car enthusiasts lately, plus a lot on YouTube doing it as a bit.

With £50k to spend on three cars.

What do you choose?

Daily:
L405 Range Rover SDV8, I have one already, but would replace it in a heartbeat if anything happened to it. £20K

Fun:
I currently have a TVR Griffith 500, but do quite fancy a Porsche 944 S2. Either are £20K

Quirky:
Too much time spent reading AR Online and a bit of nostalgia about these things I'd like a Rover 200 BRM. £10k.

I'd probably stick with my gen 2 Flying Spur and Fiesta shopping trolley and add a tidy MX-5

I'd keep my Shed BMW E90 330i and Z4M Coupe.

Then if I was feeling brave add a Maserati Quattroporte for wafting with a bit of fun, but being a bit risk averse in reality I'd probably go for a V8 S-Class, or maybe a CLS as I really like the looks of the early ones.

Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor (£25k)

Boxster for £10k: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202512038...

Dacia Duster 4x4 for £15k: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202511107...

Alternative would still include the Tesla, but I'd go MR2 Roadster and the best Discovery I could find with the remainder of the £25k

Basically stupid fast modern EV thing, sporty roof down thing, beefy thing.

Boxters have got to be the greatest bargain sports cars at the moment, as long as you don't get landed with a big bill

I'd stick with the 3 I've already got I think, although like many I do get tempted to change occasionally.

1) F82 M4...around £25k now(had it 5 years this year).
2) 370Z Roadster...around £10k now(had it 7 years this year).
3) Caterham 7...around £15k(had it 3 years this year).

As per the similar 2 car £30k thread, I'd keep my

E46 M3 £15k
Land Rover Discovery 3 £4K

The remaining £31k would go on either a BMW i4 M50 or the best Alpina D3 I can get for my unusually long commute.

I could probably come up with a different set of cars every day, but...

Main family car - L405 Range Rover 4.4 V8 Autobiography - £16,490

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202512178...

Family fun car - E93 M3 (Would prefer a Coupe/Saloon but budget constraints!) - £13,995

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202511017...

Fun car - Aston Martin V8 Vantage - £18,995

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202601058...

There's recently been nicer Astons sub £20k, but alas, not today, so that'll do!

For my current situation, I'd probably want:

  • Daily commuter - ~70 miles / week, town car, grocery getter. EV would make sense, but also something small, doesn't need huge range or performance.
  • Work truck - Something for shooting, country lanes, tip runs, towing crap, winter mode. A decent pick-up would be logical, however..
  • Toy - summer fun car, a nice analogue sports car.
Honda e ~£12k (cheapest ones)

Defender 90 hardtop ~£18k

Lotus Elise S1 ~£20k

Lexus RCF, maybe 30-35k?
Very old 2cv van, scruffy but solid, maybe 10k?
Alfa Spider 2.4 jtd.

That is today's list.

Tomorrow's has a Morgan of some flavour, a full size American pick up and a scruffy Beetle...

And I could go on picking lists for a long time. I would be very skint, very quickly if I had any money...
