All-season tyres for Mazda 2
Discussion
Hi all,
My Mazda 2 has 185/60 R16 summer tyres. No other size is approved. Is it possible/advisable to go for 195/55 R16 instead, which would give me access to a much wider range of tyres, such as Michelin CrossClimates, or am I likely to run into problems? I don't want to order them and find the garage won't fit them, or have them rubbing on the wheel arches!

I see what you mean, relatively expensive size too, hope you can find some confirmation for size swap.
Mytyres have 3 options your size in all season if you haven't already checked, Falkens @ £92.48 (cheaper than Camskill who will also charge delivery) with Maxxis and Barum slightly cheaper.
If you were to consider full winters for all year round, i've had very good experience with Vredestein full winters, Snowtrack5 currently on Oponeo @ £103.

I would think on a standard car there would be scope for quite a large change, given most sit very high and have loads of clearance. My Mazda 2 has 185/60 R16 summer tyres. No other size is approved. What you propose is a pretty small change.
Even google suggests it is a standard size anyway. What does the data plate on the car say for tyre pressures etc ?
Mazda 2 tyre sizes vary by model and year, but common options include 185/65 R15, 195/55 R16, 175/65 R14, and 195/50 R15, with some variants using smaller 14-inch or larger 16-inch wheels. The best way to find your specific size is to check the sidewall of your current tyres for a code like "185/65 R15 88H" (Width/Aspect Ratio Rim Diameter Load Speed).
Common Tyre Sizes
185/65 R15: Very common across different generations.
195/55 R16: Often found on higher trims or newer models.
175/65 R14: Used on earlier models or base trims.
195/50 R15: Another popular size for this vehicle.

The data plate only lists 185/60R16 86H. Incidentally, the manual says snow chains should not be fitted to models with 16" rims *except* for those with the particular engine that I have, which sound promising, in terms of a slightly wider tyre. What you propose is a pretty small change.
