I'm looking at an ID Buzz GTX (7 seat) Lease. They initially quoted 6+35 at £699 a month for 20k which seemed a good deal for lots of miles.

Now they say that's not available and only 48 month is on the same terms. Would I be right in thinking I should be very suspicious of any lease term outside of mfr warranty? I have asked them to supply specifically what is covered in their maintenance package but I am highly doubtful this would cover a serious fault.

Anyone know what the options are for this? I assume no way to extend VW Warranty into the 4th year?

I don't think this is an uncommon issue.

I'm pretty sure VW will sell you an extended lease, but it will be at your expense.

It may also not be as comprehensive as the original manufacturer warranty, you'll need to look into it.

I would be incredibly cautious on running any lease vehicle out of manufacturers warranty ( under a leasing agreement ) without full cast-iron maintenance. Moreso with an EV.

As is the law of the sod, the EV throws a major and expensive issue at month thirty-nine, and then you re into a whole world of pain - ultimately, investing £ s into a vehicle that s only on your drive for seven months before you wave goodbye to it.

£700 pm over 48 months - that's a lot of dough.

I wouldn't stress over the 4th year warranty - you don't own the car, the lease company does. If anything major happens outside of warranty, they'll work it out with the manufacturer. It won't be your problem, as long as you look after it, service it and are not negligent, provable, in any way.

& it's really 53 months because of the 6+47

Potentially better to buy the car? Would it depreciate by that much over 4 years?

Yeah it is much less attractive at 48 months and I likely wouldn't go for it especially with the warranty issue.

List these are 68k so not cheap, I am weighing this up against buying 1 year old one of lower spec.

Just get the extended VW warranty for year 4 once you are close to the factory warranty expiring. I don't see what the issue is.

Well as above, its not that simple is it, I don't own it. Who is liable if it has a major failure?

I had this with a JLR product about 9 years ago, the warranty extension was pretty cheap but you had to buy it within 30 days of delivery to get it for that, bundled in with the service plan.

And yes, that and the original 3 year warranty was well used before it went back

This all day long. I think you need to give your head a wobble at those figures.

What on earth are you talking about? I leased a BMW EV for 3 years (and have extended the lease beyond the 3 years), and just before the 3 year factory warranty ran out, I took out the BMW extended warranty on a monthly basis, which covers me after the 3 year factory warranty, not just for major failures too. I really don't see why you are making this more complex than it is.
