Hi all, happy new year.

My bmw warranty is coming to and end the same day my MOT is due. Is it worth getting BMW to do my MOT incase I have any repairs that need to be done which could be covered under warranty or don’t bother?

Also is there anything you would recommend I do before my warranty finishes? Such as giving bmw the car to have a check or is there no such service provided? Thanks all

There should be an end of warranty check. It should cover more than just MOT. Also, while the dealer has the car, it makes sense to do the MOT after the warranty check (and any corrections).

You can do an MOT up to 30 days early and keep the anniversary date.

I'd be booking it in 2 weeks early for the end of warranty check and MOT, so you are well within the warranty claim time.

I have not heard nothing from them and my warranty is finishing in just over a month. A quick google search and a few people have mentioned they have stopped offering the end of warranty check?
My bmw is an approved used car if that makes any difference whatsoever. Thanks.

They've never contacted, I've had warranty for years, they expect you to book in if you need the end of term check.

Never came across an ‘end of term’ service etc on our F31 when the warranty ended; but I got the MOT done by Bowker BMW before it did end, just in case they picked anything up (which they didn’t as everything on it was more or less new)

But good peace of mind etc

My car is booked in for it's MOT next week, and the warranty is due to expire early Feb.

I've just had the renewal price through, £2400 for a year. Is that normal? I've not had a BMW warranty before, but that sounds very high.

Depends which BMW, I had a similar quote for an 840i.

Depends on the excess as well.

As above, and whether you take out their breakdown cover. Both ours (a 2016 F31 335d and a 2020 F40 m135i) are just over £400 each, I think I set the excess at £250.

Ouch, my 2020 X5M is £888 with full European breakdown cover (£250 XS). What's the mileage on your X5?

I have found apparently there is a mileage boundary. If you put in 60000 miles with a £250 excess then it is £800 a year, if you put in 60001 with the same excess then it is £1200 a year.

So where did the £2400 for a year come from then? Although that didn't surprise me at first as that's the price for a 7 series warranty.

That's the price with a £0 excess.

As the car approaches 60k it's best to swap to monthly payments, the price then just goes up with the CPI rate as it's not a new policy each year. OUr 335d is on monthly with mileage just over 66k, it's been over 60k for 3 years and the price just goes up slightly each year.

My car came with a 12 month warranty when I bought it so I’m not sure I could have changed it before now. Just a shame I didn’t know about the 60k price change. Wonder what would happen if I put 59999 as my current mileage when I renew biggrin Would they look it up?

What was the mileage on the last service record? ;-)

Trouble is they can dial in to the car at any point I believe. The mileage is also listed in the app.
