Looks and sounds epic. I'm not into MG or muscle cars, but that really floats my boat.

The rear, with the distinct lights, gives some TVR vibes as well.

Very interesting buy for someone. The apparent lack of a recent service and the mileage discrepancy after the first MoT may affect its appeal to some potential buyers.

Hi, I have a few questions.
Do you have any other serivce history other than the few piece that are shown? any any service history prior to your purchase?
Do you have any information on the vehicle and owenership before your ownership? I have read it was potentially a race/ track car and have seen a claim it may have been sold as front end damaged from MG S&R in 2005? Do you have any further information on this?

With thanks

Hi Ian/Roger
Yes I have a lot more service history since I have owned the vehicle, I have owned the car since 2007, in my ownership it has received more routine maintenance than miles travelled, I have taken a look at the mileage discrepancy and all the mileage stacks up in my ownership, the failing appears to be the Luffield service as I have 4 service documents from that visit inc the invoice and they all have different mileages on, so from that I can only surmise they made an admin error at that time, I hadnt noticed it before tbh.

The car was pre production car number 5, quite a famous car in the SV owners world, the car was driven by Tiff Needell and is featured on the promotional video being driven around Snetterton, this is where the car received a minor bump to the N/S/F wing I believe, this was all repaired correctly and was purely bodywork and as you can see from the pictures the repair has been carried out correctly and everything aligns and is finished correctly.
The Promotional DVD comes with the car and it is featured on there with this registration number.

The car drives and performs very well, it is currently in a workshop for a service and MOT and new battery. The car is for sale as I do not use it and have a collection of which I have decided to move a few on now.

Hope that answers your questions

Many thanks

I should just clarify - the car was not a track car or a race car, it was a pre production car and used for promotional purposes only.

It looks more like it had a speedo change around 2026/2007 not uncommon on an mg so mileage really should be sold incorrect if it’s not documented !! as in 2006 mot shows 13k then the next 4K then 7k then back upto 13k definitely something not right there still a lovely example but miles are more likely to be 26/28k

Can you please confirm how the mot records are showing the mileage as it is inconsistent which obviously has a major effect on its value thanks

Interested in the car, but there do appear to be some anomalies which it would be helpful to have some further clarification on please.
Vehicle history checks with Experian and TotalCarCheck both flag mileage discrepancy - "The odometer reading reduced by -8966 miles between 28/11/2006 and 03/01/2007".
They also show the vehicle as having two previous keepers rather than one - "Number of previous keepers: 2
Most recent keeper change: 30/01/2007 Dates of other changes: 06/12/2006"
Any further information on these issues would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Also notice that the checks show the model as MG Metro (LC8) which obviously seems odd - please can you confirm what it states on the V5 registration document, and also what the annual road tax cost is?
Many thanks.

As others have said, an explanation for the mileage history discrepancy in 2006/2007 is required if this car is to realise its full value.

Was the speedo replaced or the whole car? yikes

A logical explanation would be that the first MOT is a typo and it had covered around 1300 or so miles at its first test. I’d want service history backing this up though in the form of invoices/receipts.

Hi All
This all came about when some European guy bought one of the last remaining cars from the liquidators circa 2006, he tried to claim the car he bought was BX53AUT.
He has seen this car on the promotional dvd and convinced himself it was this car which it wasn’t.
DVSA in their wisdom initially accepted his claim (without my knowledge m) and registered it to his car. They finally picked up on it and created a lot more confusion with re registering mine incorrectly etc. I got a lot of help from MG SV owners club to prove my car is in fact genuine and correct. DVSA sent two inspectors out to view my car and we had to remove a seat and carpets to access chassis numbers etc all of which were correct.
The car was then re registered correctly etc.
this guy caused me I told grief in thinking he had bought the car in he video.
Regarding the V5 it shows it as MG SV.
Not sure on price of tax will find out on Monday.
I have documents on this but can’t access the file until Monday then will dig them out and try to post them
Many thanks

A simple typo could account for the mileage discrepancy. Hopefully a proper service book is included (ideally supported by invoices) and will quickly verify the history.

Road tax went ballistic in March 2006, so this 2003 vehicle will be a relative bargain.
