Looking at booking a flight only to Larnaca and need a cabin bag but the only option seems to be to book a package which nearly tripples the cost.

23Kg holdbag costs nearly double transporting me at 4 times that weight?

Use another airline then? Always worth checking - I flew BA Club last year for a business trip as it was cheaper than an 'economy' flight with bags!

Are you doing it on the app? Select light fare, small underseat bag only. Go through seat selection or click random top right if you don't want to pay. Next step it will let then let you add a cabin bag on.

They all designing the apps now to promote packages and making it less clear to get the combination you want, but it's always possible.

You're allowed a cabin bag. We always take a rucksack sized bag with all our stuff in.

They then have Smart which allows a bigger cabin bag but a quick shifty shows that is about 45 quid per passenger, per flight extra.

Then they have Smart Plus which allows the bigger and smaller cabin bags but that seems to be about 58 quid extra, per person, per flight.

This is why we wear a decent weight fleece and jeans and trainers ( to cover any chilly parts) and pack wisely in the free small cabin bag. Holidaying somewhere warm obviously assists greatly.

yes but it has to fit under your seat. A bigger overhead is more expensive, from £5.99

Easyjet's under seat bags are bigger (30L) than the RyanAir/WizzAir (24L) under seat bag (the latter increased from 20L late in 2025)

Just spent week in Madeira with an 30L bag with no issues. Booked on a desktop - very straight forward. It does pester you to upgrade everything, but just skip.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I have one of these for a city break at the end of Jan.

The volume isn’t relevant- it’s the external measurement that counts.

I fit a 40 litre bag under the seat on Easyjet - most backpacks are the wrong shape to make the best use of the space.

We have two of these: https://amzn.eu/d/fBE9dcg

They open like a suitcase and have 2 compression straps either side and lots of pockets. The overall size is less important than your ability to squash it into the EJ "size cage". Only been asked to try the cage on two occasions, without incident.

You can just book a flight and add whichever weight/size of bag you want.

Having had a quick look on Easyjet's site, a flight is around £250 return, and a 23kg is another £130 return.

Very soon Easyjet will charge £1 or so to use the toilet biggrin

I`ve just looked at BA, picked a day next month from Gatwick to Larnaca. £201.85 return. That includes handbag, cabin bag and 23KG hold.
As with all airlines the cost depends on the day and time you fly. Flying at stupid o'clock on a Tuesday is half the price of a mid day flight on a Saturday.

We’ve just booked flights from Newcastle to Nice in May and I was initially confused about the various options since it has changed since I last used the website. I declined everything at the start and later on in the process you can add a single bag. It’s incredibly how much the extras can increase the price of a flight now; I typically decline everything (and did on this occasion) and travel light but for a five day trip my wife might struggle. Still, and £80 return each you can’t complain too much.
