Value from a carport?

I'm in something of a quandry - I've had a few quotes to extend my (very narrow) driveway, install some new fencing and a gate and possibly build a car port. The car port adds significantly to the cost, the whole lot generally being in the region of £9-10k

If you look at the space from the street you might think it's not possible to get a car into it, but it is - with some care. I can fit my 987 Cayman in there, and would love some more shelter for it.

Parking on the street is unresricted but can get tricky to find a space in the evenings.

Added to this I'm not sure how much longer I'll be in the house for. Unlikely more than 2 years.

So what do I do? Any thoughts on how much value a car port might add? Extend the driveway with not car port?

Anyone with recent experience of this?

As somebody who spent far too long house hunting, I don't think I would place much value on a narrow car port. Personally I wouldn't bother if you are planning to move

If it were me and the evening parking was the main issue I'd be looking to the driveway extension without the car port as the best compromise between cost and value obtained.
This would be especially valid given your expected time scale although if less than 2 years maybe I wouldn't even bother with that ?
How many years have you put up with it as it stands ?

Definitely don't bother, you'll never get that money back.

As is being suggested -

If the car would benefit from more care for a 2 year duration only and let's guess the carport is 3-4K.

Omit the car port, and spend some of the carport budget giving the Cayman some extra care / protection./

Great thanks all

I think no car port is the compromise I'll go for.

You can get aluminium pergolas which would get you 90% of a car port for £1500 - £2600. You can dismantle them as well.

Extend the driveway as that might add value and get posts concreted in during the groundworks to fit a shade sail? Not exactly a car port but it’d keep a bit of the weather off.

That sounds expensive for a car port!
Kits are on eBay for around £1K and worst case you can take a free standing one with you if you move.

I ve just bought a £50 used gazebo off eBay for the same purpose as we at changing the garden around and I can t build a car port at the moment, but not having the car exposed to the rain as a result is great.

You can also curtain side a carport with a gap at the base to allow it to breathe to further protect it from the elements.

My view would be that covered space such as this is valuable whether or not you are a car person .
