Hello

Just spent another hour and half cleaning a cesspit psth as it was blocked

Can anyone recommend and I assume it exists something you might put down the toilet / bath to break up toilet paper ?

Thanks

What about the stuff caravans use, that's done to help break the waste down.

I bought one of these to unblock the toilet after our son put cooking apples down the toilet! It worked very well

If it's a complete blockage then nothing put in the pan will make its way to the blockage. But if there is flow then maybe some 'blue' would work. The liquid for portable crappers as mentioned above. It can also be had in tablet form which theoretically could deliver the chemicals to the blockage site more precisely. The problem though is that the time required for the chemicals to work may be too long v the transit time.

The old fashioned solution was to use sulphuric acid but it was never a particularly sensible solution even back then.

If you have an actual cesspit please take care of what chemicals you put down there!

I had success with a carbon dioxide (I think) thing that went over the pipe and generated a really impressive blast of pressure. But I can't find them anymore online - maybe they've been banned!

Also worth considering a drain snake - you can get 10 metre ones that have a handle to rotate them. Physically chopping the blockage up has to be helpful.

Don't forget, a septic tank is not a cesspit. A cesspit doesn't process it just holds onto it for someone to come and collect.

I know its not helpful but all these chemicals that we create and use go back ultimately into our drinking water frown

I would estimate approx 30m from toilet to cesspit.

Currently using a rod kit which works but is messy. Smells. And takes a long time

Everytime its blocked there appears to be 90 percent toilet roll only. This then needs hosing and rodding until clear

I was hoping something could be added to break the tissue down so it flows better

OneShot is very effective (trade only I think). Basically sulphuric acid iirc.

If you have some flow then I've found lots of hot water and washing up liquid helps get it moving.
