Anyone else into Autobiographies?

I love a read of a good autobiography, some of them I find to be total page turners.

Have you read/reading anything good lately?

I have just finished reading Slash’s autobiography (Guns n Roses guitarist), what a wild life he is lived! 10/10

I m now reading Prince Harry’s book, but it’s got quite a moany glass-half-empty undertone about it, so am struggling with that one but will persevere.

Also ordered Hope Solo’s book today after hearing about her career recently,
So that will be next and am looking forward to it.

If you enjoy them too, perhaps we could build this thread with recommendations or your views of your latest read too?

My recommendation’s are

Arnold Schwarzenegger - an unbelievable and engaging story of how he became one of the world’s biggest movie stars.

Paige Van Zant - a UFC fighter on how she made it into MMA it’s interesting but a tough read.

Jay Leno - pretty good from what I remember.

Been a wrestling fan I’ve read the bios of Mick Foley, Kurt Angle and the Rock. All recommended if you’re a pro wrestling fan.

Not an AutoB exactly but Michael Collins' ''Carrying The Fire'' is exceptional in a historical sense. Both his own history before and also that of his part in the Gemini and Apollo achievements. I read it every year and it settles me somehow....

Yes, I enjoy autobiographies very much.

The only one I have read is Travis Barker (Blink 182 drummer) who has some very graphic pictures in it of the aftermath of a plane crash that he was 1 of 2 survivors to walk out, the 2nd guy killed himself after. I actually have a signed copy, that they dropped on his shop very light one night (benefits of working nights).

I dont read much at all, do fancy reading OZZY's books.

Bret Harts book is excellent if you haven’t read that yet, well worth it. I also enjoyed Ted DiBiase and Hacksaw Jim Duggar’s books. Brets book is really in depth, rich and detailed. Ted and Hacksaws are more light hearted page turners. All fabulously entertaining on their own merits.

I have read two in recent weeks which were both thoroughly enjoyable:

‘Sing Backwards and Weep’ by Mark Lanegan.

‘Open’ by Andre Agassi.

One of them will put you off ever trying heroin, the other taking up professional tennis

I’m sure the Bret Hart is a good read from been catalyst of the Attitude era to having his in ring career ended by Goldberg. As a side not note I’ll recommend the YouTube channel wrestling bios for stories and a general behind the scenes overview of WWE and WCW.

I doubt the undertaker will ever release a book as he’s got his own YouTube channel which he tells stories of what happened in and out the ring.

Back to biographies. I forgot to mention Jordan Belfort. He was a real life Gordon Gecko with a drug problem and lived his life to excess before he was finally caught for his dodgy dealings. They made a film about his life called The wolf of Wall Street which is very good. The book is worthy of a read.

It was good, until WWE took over it and replaced the co host with his wife.

I didn't get all the way through Jordan Belfort's (Wolf of Wall Street) book as he came across as such an almighty I had to stop and pick up another book instead.

Read Wainwright and Barry Sheene years ago, liked them both. Couldn't fancy reading Alan Sugar, but thinking back maybe I have done.
I mentioned Tom Karen earlier. his autobiography was most interesting, showed his weaknesses as well as his strengths.
The Oliver Winterbottom book was interesting, some insights into TVR & Lotus design and the politics and business
Going down the motorbike racing route, the Valentino Rossi book was good but the version I read stopped midway through his career.

Currently looking for a decent biography on Donald Campbell but the usual recommendation is a little expensive.
Would also like a book on Jim Clark at some point. Sure I've read one before, probably40 or more years ago.

Not an Autobiography but Keith Moons biography Dear Boy is an excellent read. He led a crazy short life, the bio is funny, shocking and sad.
