Hi Bernie, Have you checked for borescore? Whats oil consumption been like since you've had every 1000 miles especially in last few years. Also any idea how the winner could get the car over to mainland UK and associated cost as sadly I'm overseas for next few months. Regards Imi

Johnston Car Transport or McLaughlin Car Transport run car transporters between NI and Mainland GB every week. Might cost anywhere around £400-500 ish to have it delivered? Normally I just fly across and drive back on the ferry, but have used Johnston once when that didn’t suit and would use them again.

No mate, no bore-score checks, but the car has only done 76,000 and sounds and drives beautifully. No excessive smoke or anything else that would suggest problems. As for checking it away to the mainland, it would have to be picked up and driven across by whoever buys it. The reserve has been lowered with that in mind.

I'm in Spain in the New Year as well, mate. So if it doesn't sell this time, I will store it until Spring.

It's a factory-fitted, GT3 kit, which includes the wheels.

Thanks Bernie. Happy New Year. Has your 996 had any accident damage through both you and Dad's ownership resulting in a vist to te body shop for a repair and or repaint?

No, no accident damage. The paint is original. The bonnet was professionally painted by Isaac Agnew in 2012 after it was damaged by a drunk who decided to dance on it when my son owned it, and the wheels were refurbished by me in 2013. The bills are available for viewing with the documentation.

Interesting point! Please let me explain. First of all, the car has reached the lowered reserve put on it, so at the moment I will honour my
contract with Pistonheads and sell to the highest bidder. I have, however, been at this stage before, and the buyer dropped out.
If that happened again, I would definitely wait until I returned to the UK in the Spring and try again.
I love this car very much. It has been in our family since 2004, and I will be sad to let it go. A sensible part of me realises that at my age (74), I'm not using it as much, but the illogical side wants to keep it.

It is a beautiful car and has been part of my family for twenty years, but I know it needs to be driven and enjoyed rather than covered up and stored.
