Hi all, I real want to scratch the MX-5 itch, and I wonder if this is the way. The car (07 plate) is isted at below £500, open to offers.

Here's the fall sheet. What would it take to get it back on the road?

Problem is the corrosion will be a lot more than expected so its impossible to say.
One to walk away from unless your doing the work yourself in my opinion.

Forget it, the corrosion is the killer. The other bits are straight forward. Even the seat belts are cheap from Mazda - well £300 for a pair.

It's a pity that the car is probably going to be scrapped.

Ignoring tyres that's less than £100 to DIY except for the welding.

The welding would put me off despite being able to complete it myself. It's always more extensive than it looks. Steel doesn't rust through in one spot leaving good metal immediately next to it. As a result, it turns into a never ending faff that's best avoided if you don't want to spend a few thousand doing it properly (I'm assuming you wouldn't be doing this yourself as you're asking the question).

Yes to everyone who assumed correctly - welding is well beyond my skill level. It would definitely need to be a shop doing it.
