One job I hate in the festive season is writing Christmas cards.

I get the job as I am the one who knows how to do the mail merge to print out the address labels.

I have managed to get it down from about 60 to 40 this year, but I noticed for the first time ever, the Royal Mail are pushing sending Christmas cards on the TV.

Anyone not sending any this year?

We will probably be sending a few; family members who we don't see much of and a couple of friends that live a distance away, however every year the list shortens and we receive fewer ourselves.

Think my wife sent about ten last week.

That's probably the number we usually end up with these days, I think the days of having them arriving in threes and fours each day are well and truly over.

7 this year. The majority to family members over 80. Very few of my friends bother with cards these days, a merry Christmas whatsapp, e-mail or social media post and few quid to charity seems to be becoming more common.

My wife on the other hand sends dozens, her family even send cards for Easter which I'd never even heard of before we met.

None for us, and that has been the case for a few years even for those people who live abroad.

Happy to phone them and wish people a Happy Christmas or have an open house on Boxing Day.

Received between 40 and 50 last year, and sent the same. Many were from friends of my late wife, some of whom I've never met, so I expect numbers will drop off this year.

It's funny how things change; when I was growing up my Mum had a large circle of friends and family and our house used to be absolutely covered in cards. We will be lucky to receive about half a dozen this year from close family. I think the price of postage has killed it, bit it's still nice to receive a hand written card in the post.

Was down to sending zero cards in the post. I am now up to sending 3. All to the grandchildren(all under 6) as they love them and the fact they have a letter. They are also the only ones that we send holiday postcards to.

Not sending any - ridiculous price for stamps.

I used to send around 40 a year (a decade ago) - and when I had my company, there must have been hundreds sent out.

The last year or so I've sent maybe 10 cards out. The number is definitely reducing.

We send about 10-15, mostly family and a couple of close friends.

Its a pain writing them so I do it late November and stick them in the post as soon as we hit Decenber.

I was wondering what will happen in Denmark. Will a private contractor step in I wonder?

There was an article I read last year. If you were to send 100 cards first class it would be cheaper to fly to Albania & post them from there. hehe

I was sending a large book to a friend in Sweden. The postage was actually more than a return flight with EasyJet (underseat luggage only!)

This. I usually send about 30, but this year I have lost my sense of humour about it this time.

Humbug.

I send about ten to close family and to my God Children. I use a popular online service and it’s done and dusted in fifteen minutes.

Everyone else gets a WhatsApp or an email.

I'll only buy cards for my parents and my sister and BIL an their children.

I bought a box of cards this morning because it's still a thing for my youngest that they give cards to everyone in the class but even my eldest at high school isn't bothering.

Wife will give cards to the neighbours on our street (about 12 houses) but that will be it.

Won't be using Royal Mails services to send any cards

When I was a kid I delivered all our family's cards for a couple of pence a go. It was a wheeze because I often delivered half a dozen cards to the same house.

Just one of many making schemes I had as a young 'un. Kids today don't seem to do this sort of thing.

I get 50 printed by Solopress - pretty pic of mine on the front and generic printed message on the back. Shove a 2'nd stamp on... sorted.
