Hi,

The P450 has been put away for the winter and will now be in my garage not moving until around March.

My question, can I just use a standard trickle charger to keep the battery topped up? I've no idea as I have something in the back of my mind telling me that these had some sort of fancypants battery which you need to be careful with when charging.

Thanks.

F-Types are normally fitted with an AGM battery, I use a CTEK MXS 5.0 this has an AGM battery type setting.

Thanks for that, very helpful. I'll see what trickle chargers I have and take it from there. thumbup

Do I just attach it to the battery in the boot or are there charging points somewhere? Sorry but I haven't a clue biggrin

I have a 12 volt socket in the boot that I plug the CTEK into this is connected to a + on a distribution bar and the chassis ground, although not all cars have this details can be seen on this topic:-

Regarding connecting directly to the battery I was informed this would bypass the BMS and the CTEK would not charge correctly, although I can’t really see a problem with this. Some even use the jump start points under the bonnet with no issues.

I have two AGM trickle chargers!

The car’s been in the garage now for about a month, attached it to the charger yesterday afternoon and it’s already saying full thumbup

Think I’ll just attach it once a month or so just to be on the safe side.

Just leave it permanently attached, that's the point of them. My P450 is also tucked. up.
