Considering getting a robot vacuum cleaner, mainly for the dining kitchen for daily cleaning, but also to be able to pick up and drop into other rooms for on-demand cleaning. The kitchen is down three steps from the rest of the ground floor of the house so we can't just let it roam the whole house. Wet cleaning would be a nice to have but not a must. As we need it to handle the kitchen it'll have to be capable of navigating around the dining chair and table legs, breakfast bar stool legs etc. We have two cats, in case that is a factor. Most of the ground floor is hard flooring but a couple of rooms are carpeted.
Who's got one they'd recommend?

In lieu of replies here there's an ongoing thread in the "Home" section (I think). You could also look at the robot vacuum wars website and YouTube channel.Who's got one they'd recommend?
I was in the same situation as you, albeit dogs instead of cats, and after doing some research I couldn't justify the spend. To get one that performs well with the features needed was going to be in excess of £1000. Cheaper models had some glaring flaws and I couldn't justify it versus a few minutes spent with a brush or stick vacuum.
I've posted about these before, but if you want great value, with all the features, Lublielu absolutely stomp the competition. Under £100 and you get full lidar (laser), good over rugs/thresholds etc, great suction, mopping is actually quite good, great room mapping and editing.
You really want lidar if you have lots of obstacles, like chair legs etc. Speeds up the cleaning no end.
Cats will be cautious of them for the 1st few runs, then they totally ignore them.
We have 2 x SL60D vacs. I paid £80 new for one, and £40 used for the other. I bought larger dust boxes for them (no mopping) and only use the mopping dust box on one of them very occasionally.
