£10 for a test drive. There's not wanting time wasters, but...

They probably get a lot of messers.

The only way I'd entertain that is if I'd negotiated the price in advance factoring it in and on the condition nothing cropped up on the subsequent test drive

I've been thinking about this, and have differing views.

As a retired car dealer, it isn't something I'd do.

Buying, it wouldn't stop me buying a car, but would expect it to be refunded if the car had issues that stopped me buying it.

When I entered the motor trade in the late 80's there were always people just test driving cars for something to do on a Sunday afternoon, it was frustrating for the sales staff.

In the end the boss banned test drives for a while, but that certainly lost us some sales, but not all.

Love the bit about not answering with held numbers, and texts. I used to be the same.

My adverts read "for the quickest response give me a call, I don't sit in front of my computer all day"

£10 sounds enough to irritate real potential customers, but not enough to discourage time wasters who fancy a go in a particular car. So what's the point, other than a small income stream?

Could be for insurance?
