So I left the UK 18 years ago to live in foreign parts. If I went back now, what would I notice has changed?

Is it still the country of long shadows on country cricket grounds, warm beer, dog lovers, the growl of TVRs, and old maids cycling to church in the early morning mist? (With apols to John Major).

I saw a statistic the other day that said London as a whole is now only 1/3rd white British... so probably a No to your second point, depending on where you are...

Quite. 2007 did not look that much different to now imo. Apart from more Eastern Europeans in London as Brexit put paid to that.

I'm currently taking afternoon tea with The Colonel while pale maidens dance for us on the village green.

I read that as 'I'm currently taking afternoon tea with The Colonel while Iron Maiden dance for us on the village green'.

I'd pay good money to see that.

(You can't go wrong with a bit of 'Maiden IMO music )

There are fewer NHS dentists and it seems we're meant to put autumn reefs on our front doors now.

They used to be twice as big in the 1960's and were made by Westons, not Burtons.

It's now an Islamic calliphate with a proxy puppet Labour government - so utterly bankrupt. The police no longer investigate real world crime, just monitor for hurty words on the internet. The general public aspire to live beyond their diminishing means just like the government, so their home and driveways are littered with shiny Chinese tat. Weather's still the same though smile

If it really was that, you wouldn't be allowed to spell it incorrectly on the internet with such impunity.

It hasn't changed all that much.

You may encounter some people using the phrase 'hurty words'.

If you do, walk slowly away, backwards.

Oh yeah.

In before the mods move this to the forbidden zone.

Sooooooooo, the UK.

Well, as we all know from personal experience, it's the envy of the world and a multicultural paradise.

Run to perfection by highly competent, experienced, capable intellectual giants of the political universe.

We are lucky indeed.

It never rains during the day either.

Or would you like the truth?

Bear in mind that we can't handle the truth because we are living in it and it's horrible.

Very very horrible.
