For the past 15 years we have been running REL T9s. Two rooms. but you can run a pair in one room.

I think I bought the first (black) for about £700, and then found another in white on Ebay for £500.
Great subs - but then I met someone with a "reference" model....

Thank you both for the responses. When I was in Richer sounds of I remember rightly the chap stated about a Rel woofer being better than a KEF one.
I use the KEF app via Spotify to play my music. So use Bluetooth.
Does the Rel woofer need to be wired to one of the Kef speakers or can it be standalone and used within the app also. ?

I have a pair of LS60's and added the KC62 sub - which I wasn't sure I needed given the 60's already have 4 bass drivers per speaker.
However, the 62 has made a terrific difference adding real heft to an already impressive bass.
The advantage with the Kef sub is the integration on the speaker's app - crossover frequencies etc. The Kef subs are also seriously good- they'd be candidates without the integration.

BK Electronics are always worth a look.
Made in the UK, they used to manufacture REL subs for the UK market, they are really nicely made and great value. I have a little XLS-300DF (downward Firing). Lots of options in terms of finishes which might make it more acceptable in the home environment. I have the satin white, it's a sprayed finish, not some plastic wrap, and the whole thing feels and looks of very high quality.
Mine integrates seamlessly with my Monitor Audio "bookshelf" speakers. Lots of control over it, crossover etc so you can offload the lower bass frequencies from the speakers to the sub which helps everything sound bigger and less strained.
It'll depend on what you want to achieve and the space they'll be in, but they'll be something in their line up that will suit from small and discrete to wall shaking. I use mine in a kitchen audio/AV system, it's at one end of a 10x4m kitchen and it fills that space quite comfortably.
It's quite common now to use a pair of smaller subs if you are after a well integrated system which excels in the audio/music departments too. Two of the above would still be comfortably under budget compared to one of the KEF sub. Something to think about...
They have an Ebay store:

and a somewhat old fashioned looking website, but you can find PDF of the manuals to check specs and see if they have all the features you want.

I have a pair of Rel T9 subs and they are pretty reasonable subs IMO, although I'm thinking of moving to something from Velodyne as my system has changed so much in the 5 or 6 years that I've had them. They use a so-called 'high level connection' to connect from the amp (i.e., just a couple of extra wires at the speaker posts) and the appropriate wire is included. You can also make these wireless via a Rel receiver unit (I have this on one of mine - possibly called Arrow?) and it works well. There is no app, or remote. I don't miss an app (why does everything have to have an app?!), but a remote would be helpful I think - I have one on my MA platinum subwoofer for AV and it's a useful addition. I use the KEF app via Spotify to play my music. So use Bluetooth.

I like having a sub(s) as part of a hifi setup and my preference is to have them quite low so that they just underpin and enhance the speaker output rather than dominate the sound. It's so easy to end up with a muddy mess with subs although I appreciate that everyone likes something different!
Excellent responses thank you all.
My thinking is the LS50 wireless are good but just lack a little for the size of the room.
The dilemma which one to go for. For ease and connectivity to the app makes me think a KEF.
But obviously at a price.
What about obstructions to the woofer. Does it need a clear sight to the room say?

I bought an ex demo KC62, which was a bit of a bargain - it might be worth looking on Ebay too.My thinking is the LS50 wireless are good but just lack a little for the size of the room.

The 62 is side firing and I have obstructions reasonably close, however this has no impact on sound that I can hear... unless you're an inch from the wall, I don't think it's going to make a huge difference.
As I mentioned previously, the Kef Connect app will let you manage high and low pass frequencies, sub gain, sub polarity, bass extension etc - for me it made sense to stay in the Kef 'eco system' for this control as the speakers and app are handling the bass management. I might feel differently if a separate preamp was handling it.

Yes I can use Spotify connect rather than Bluetooth.
KC62 & KW1 wireless adapter is in the basket.
Won t mention to the Mrs the price mind !
Funny things subs, once you've heard your system with one, you can't unhear it or go back! I shall be interested to see what you think when it arrives and you've set it up (which is very quick).KC62 & KW1 wireless adapter is in the basket.

Also if it persuades you to dig a little deeper (so to speak) on higher resolution files than Spotify - via Qobuz (for example) which you can access (Qobuz Connect) via the Kef Connect app.
I purchased the speakers and stands direct from KEF.
Will probably do so with the sub.
Just need to wait as I’m out of the country and want to be home when I order.
So easily tucked away in the corner out of the Mrs’s eyes.
That my Xmas pressie to myself sorted.
Her surprise is a kitchen aid mixer! :0))

I have a KC62 (by accident, long story). It's incredible for the size.
However I was also going to look at the SVS 3000 Micro - it would probably be just as good plus it's half the price of the KEF and has its own app for remote adjustment etc.
The KEF's wireless connector probably makes life a lot easier though if you need the sub any distance from the amp...
I'm sure that if you stuck with an all-KEF solution you'd be very pleased.

Seconded. I bought one 7 or 8 years ago and its faultless. At the time there was another ebay account where they sold "seconds", I sent a message and asked if they had the specific item I wanted as a "second", the reply was look in a few days, surprise surprise the model / colour I had mentioned was available.
