quesrion about diy kitchens base cabinets

Hi,

can anyone tell me please -

What is the back of a standard base cabinet like?

I know it has a 42mm void.

Is that void completely enclose on all 4 sides?
ie behind the base panel, the cabinet top/bottom and sides continue for another 42mm?

Or does it only extend for 42mm on the 2 sides?

I am trying to ascertain if any of the cabinet is going to hit a gas pipe which runs along the wall about the level of the base of the cabinet/just above leg height.

Only the gables form the void.

That's a relief.
Very easy to remove a bit at the bottom of each gable for the horizontal gas pipe then.
