YT Influencers
Discussion
A friend sent me this link to a YouTube review of the G87 BMW M2. As an owner of this model he thought I might be amused to see the car described as below par and weird.

Now, anyone who reads PH reviews, or any other motoring journalist review, or owns a G87 M2, will know the current M2 is well regarded. I appreciate the YouTuber is driving a privately owned car, so must treat it with respect, but don't review high performance cars if you are incapable of properly doing so.
What has wound me up is that thus guy is likely intentionally being controversial and using a clickbait headline to grow his channel and personal wealth. He doesn't care that his review might put off potential buyers and it is clear from comments that the majority who watched it think what he says is gospel.
Should I be concerned that these reviews, conducted by people with no experience in the field of motoring journalism, will replace the professionals? When you read a proper road test you mostly get the facts on how a car performs and can make your own conclusions.
Re influencers in general, my 11 year old son often spouts nonsense, which he believes to be fact, based on what he has watched on YT.

.H Metcalfe, C Harris and just about every other professional journalist provided similar review outcomes. My concern is that the professionals, some of who use YT, will be replaced by clickbait idiots dishing out misinformation.
If I’m interested in a car I read reviews from a wide range of sources, including YT influencers. Then I go and drive one for myself. Then for future reference I take note of the reviewers who aligned with my own thoughts and those who appeared to be talking nonsense or had completely different tastes. There are usually loads of contradictory reviews out there. Most reviewers are biased, either intentionally or not. Car reviews are largely subjective anyway.

Why would they get replaced by the click bait idiots? H Metcalfe, C Harris and just about every other professional journalist provided similar review outcomes. My concern is that the professionals, some of who use YT, will be replaced by clickbait idiots dishing out misinformation.
