HPI Loan query

I m wondering if anyone can help me. In 2019 I sold a car to a family friend. It had had some finance on it through Ford which was all settled so no issues.
This week she tried to sell the car and was told that there was an uncleared HPI on it. I called Ford and they confirmed all clear from them and she was given the number of a loan company I ve never heard of and not had dealings with before. I m panicking now, although it turned out to be a mistake and the HPI on that was clear as well, they told her it s from November 2018 which was when I had the car. What might have happened here?
I was the only other owner of the vehicle before her from 2017-2019.
