The library has an app called borrowbox where you can borrow Ebooks. There is also the ability to borrow/read magazines.
What would be the best e-reader.
I think the old fashioned kindles are better to read than an iPad screen, but it seems you can not use them.
I think the Firefox kindle can be used, and it can download the books directly not through a computer.
That would therefore be my preferred option, as I want to be able to download books abroad where I will not face a laptop.
To be clear I won’t be using whatever I buy for any other reason than reading.
Am I missing anything or is a Firefox kindle for around £150 the best bet?

I have an old kindle which I sideload books onto using Calibre, you can use a kindle outside in the sunlight which is important to me!

Where are you reading and when?

How techy are you and how much do you want to spend?

I use the Borrowbox app on a (very old) iPad. They have an Android app also, so consider a cheap/used Android tablet or iPad?

There's a channel called CriminOlly on YouTube that does quite a few reviews of the e-readers, his latest review is of the Bigme B6 which sounds like it's what you're after but there are quite a few Android eInk readers available now -
eInk display so you can read it outdoors (Kindles are eInk too, phones and iPads aren't)
Android so you can load any apps from the PlayStore, I've had a quick look and there's a BorrowBox app so you can load that straight on there

B6 review - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spOOB1is2nU it's £140, people in the comments are moaning it's not the most intuitive to use
His other eReader reviews - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4R8XE7u8mv...
