What do I check first?
Discussion
Lt35 camper won t start. It has a laserline aftermarket alarm and Immobiliser.
The van and alarm are both circa 1998.
Start procedure is push fob onto mark until bips then attempt to start. It clicks once and nothing more.
Battery is known good but van has been sat for 6 months.
Alarm system appears to be playing ball but I don t know for sure. It s doing what it has always done on the surface.
What do I check first? Is there an order people follow of things to check? I m quite competent at fixing things but I despise fault finding and I am struggling with a start point.

It will be one of these things.
Battery
Battery/chassis/engine earth
Main 12v power cable to battery/starter/alternator
What you describe "(eft for 6 months & one click) 100% describes not enough electrical juice getting to the starter in one way, shape or form.
If you have a multimeter start by checking the voltage on the battery, if it is anything less then 12.2v the battery is basically flat anyway & likely goosed.
A healthy well charged battery should be 12.6 or 12.7 volts, every 0.1 v under that is a loss of around 15% charge.
If the battery is low, start by fully charging it, it MAY come back to life, or it may not.

You need a fully charged battery before you can go any further, volts will not tell you if the battery is fully charged, if the battery is old or knackerd it can still show 12+ volts but have no amps, you need amps to start the vehicle.
When you have a fully charged battery go to You Tube and search 'my car won't start'. There are many videos showing you what to do.
FULLY CHARGED.
