Yeah its worth a watch though the Gen 2 vanquish that was used was a right dogs dinner of a car messed about with.
That said it does show the 707 DBX and the new Vantage and Vanquish as very quick machines, not necessarily my cup of tea but very impressive non the less.

thumbup watched that yesterday too....interesting to see just how fast the new cars are....and how good the electronics are at deploying the power to the road

Apart from the idea of drag racing Astons being fatuous at best (but I still watched it rolleyes) the biggest surprise for me was the way the 2C V8 Vantage completely monstered the new V12 Vantage, and nearly embarrassed the Vanquish.

The unga bunga part of my brain got enjoyment from the video. Though when the racing driver complained about the Rapide being so slow to shift, I watched him change gear as he hit the redline so it completely freaked out. Which I have experienced my self.
The manual V12 Vantage was an utter star though, fantastic to watch, but that brand new Vantage was shockingly fast that even the new Vanquish was struggling against it.
Though I found the Valkyrie intriguing to watch especially with Dr. Andy Palmer at the helm.

I really enjoyed listening to all the V12's at the start. Even the newer TT V12s have a lovely sound. Wish they included a VH Vantage V8 too.

They way the new Vantage picked up in 2nd gear is something I'm familiar with but particularly astonishing when viewed on camera vs another car of similar performance. None of these cars especially the Valkyrie are meant to be quarter mile stormers but the new cars are all indeed very fast. Plenty of potential left on the table too. I was actually both very surprised and very impressed.

On a couple of occasions, the Valkyrie was beaten by a V12 Vantage.
Might that have been done for theatrical reasons?
Andy Palmer had difficulty leaving the line rapidly.

It was an interesting watch though I dont see AM's as drag cars. The impressive cars to me were the V12 Vantage and the V8 current Vantage. The latter was seriously quick. It would have been good to see the VH V8 Vantage and the Gen 2 Vantage in V8 form competing.

I very much agree. I was seriously impressed by both Vantages.

I guess it's probably like an F1 car, rubbish off the line, but once going, stupid quick.

I’ve always found Mat Watson a little irritating and that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of his association with Mako Blue (can anyone confirm if that’s actually true?), but that video was a pretty good watch. I am somewhat biased but the performance of the manual V12 Vantage was very impressive indeed. Two things spring to mind though. Firstly, how rapid the latest cars are, powered by either the AMG V8 or the AM TT V12. Secondly, the noises the latest cars make are imho pretty dire. Some of the acceleration shots from DBX 707 and new new Vantage sounded like a bag of rattling spanners! It would have been interesting to see how DBSS performed in the mix too though. Imho that car was the peak of the first 2C range, before the latest range was launched, and I think it is a good central fit between the old and the new. I am not a fan of tacky monogrammed initials on the seats myself but each to their own I guess. BRM.

Also, judging by the look of alarmed concentration on Andy Palmer's face, I'd also guess he's never drag raced it before.

As an aside, have any of you seen the video of Chris Harris driving a Valkerie? His eyes were almost on stalks when he opened the taps. I suspect only regular race-car drivers would be fully comfortable with the sensations of speed, noise and feedback a machine like that must give

I would agree LTP. With a “proper” driver behind the wheel Valkyrie would have utterly demolished any car that Watson was driving, every time. Same for the braking from 100mph. Professional drivers do things with brakes that us mere mortals will never get close to, and AP is one of us I guess. BRM.

It would have been good to see Sam Maher-Loughnan (the racing driver in this video) get a chance with the Valkyrie, he is way better on the brakes in all the cars he drove than Matt. And he races in the AM Vantage in the British GT series in the GT4 group.

I agree with all of that.

Did anyone else notice the headrest stitching below the AM wings with different initials? Whats that about?

Yes, I did and it looked chavvy at best.

I guess you didn’t read the last line of my first post. Two or three of the cars had them, albeit I don’t think they were all the same. Could have been sourced from the same owner though? I’ve seen it before on cars for sale and for me it’s an immediate red flag. But as I said, each to their own. BRM.

Owned my 07 MY Vantage for 9 years now... love it to death, when I first got it I'd sit in a comfy chair in the garage quaffing Malbec and just stare at it.... then, Clarkson did that memorable TG piece on the V12 Vantage... and I knew I had to have one..... What in all the world could be better than a V12 Aston wih a manual gearbox.... This Vid (so many thanks to the OP) has reignited my want... Great vid, cant believe how quick that DBX is.... AP look looked terrified driving his Valkyrie... eyes liked fried eggs hehe

We might be able to sympathise with Andy Palmer's bungled starts.
I make quicker off the line starts, when the car is owned by someone else. - smile
A brutal start in my own cars, is just not done.

Matt Watson does seem to play up to the camera, but his 'previous life' might be surprising to some.
Chemistry degree, then qualified as an accountant with Price Waterhouse Coopers.
