Sports / folding bucket seats
Discussion
An apologetic long time lurker here looking for a bit of help.
I’m interested in a car with sports/folding buckets, but am not sure whether the fixed height and backrest position will be ok for me.
The car is quite a long way from where I live (north Cumbria), so I was wondering if there were any north Cumbria / SW Scotland owners of a Cayman or Boxster with sports buckets who would be happy to let sit in their car and try the seat for size.
Of course, I will be happy to drive to a location suitable for you and am only interested in sitting in the driver’s seat (no need for a drive, even as a passenger).
If anyone is able to help, I’d be very grateful if you could send me a PM.

Unfortunately I can't help with your request but I would recommend you try out the buckets (or any seat type really) for at least 30 minutes.
I had an extended test drive in a 718 with buckets and found that after about half an hour, I couldn't get comfortable and there was no adjustment to compensate.
Seats are a very personal thing. I ended up choosing the 18 way adjustable seats due to the high level of internet praise they attract but should have followed my own advice as they are not as comfortable as the 4 way Sport Plus seats on my last two Porsches.

Seems I'm not the only one that thinks the same! I found the 4-ways superb, but the 18-ways quite uncomfortable after a whileI have the carbon folding bucket seats and I love them when i am in them. Done long journeys and im 6’ 2” 15st. However do find them a bit of a pain getting in and out. Would have a more standard option if I was using it more regulary. Just my 2 cents and as others have said need to try them
Thank you everyone for your replies.
Knowing how much I alter the backrest angle of the sports seats plus in my current car during long journeys, it’s very sound advice to spend at least 30 minutes sitting in a folding bucket, so thank you DRH986.
Another car I’m interested in has the 18-way adjustable seats. It’s very interesting to read some if you prefer the 4- way seats (I too like them), so perhaps I just need to be patient and wait for a car to come up with that option.

Boxster owner here with 18-way adjustable seats. I have found them comfortable over long drives, for instance a six hour stint across France recently. As you mention, if a slight niggle was to occur, the ability to make a slight adjustment can relieve the issue.
Another plus point with the 18-way seat is the adjustable bolsters in both the base and seat back allow you to increase the amount of support when you feel it necessary, say on a track day, and reduce it for greater comfort.
