Loan ends on Mrs FSD's kia Sportage next month so considering what to whisk in next that she can get as filthy as I always find it.

Ideal mileage before 35k and less than three years old.

I'm thinking hybrid options.

Autotrader has a lot of Pug 3008's but I'm not sure how reliable they'll be.
C5 Aircross I'd have a bash in for something different, not sure she'll like it, how reliable is question as with the Pug.

Not sure I want to get Kia again, this ones had issues with them and I found warranty claims to be an endless battle. They seem to be about 21k for sportages though.

Nothing seems available in this range in zee German quarter...but prove me wrong.

Surely you can get a Rav4 or Tucson for that price? Might not be less than 3 years old but a lot more reliable than a Pug, take it from me!

I sold a 3008 petrol, had wetbelt replaced and during that process a whole load of problems exposed themselves, never selling a french car again

I'd avoid the pug, all the problems they had with their puretech engines and oil consumption are still not resolved.

Interestingly, when I read "Hybrid" my first thought was "Plug-in Hybrid".

You can actually get a PHEV C5 Aircross with pan roof, main dealer supplied and under £20,000 at 3 years old. Or the newer mild hybrid which I think ditches the wetbelt engine.

If image might be important the Mini Countryman might be an option. A very quick glance and the PHEV might be cheaper than petrol, but that could be a trick of the light given the breadth of engine choices and trim levels on Minis.

Thanks, the Wet belt issue is a concern in Pugs, and also even though I've read the C5 is fixed not sure I'd ever be convinced.

Missus will be doing local journeys in it so PHEV or Hybrid are better options.

As said Suzuki Across, it’s a badge engineered Toyota RAV4 PHEV, without the mark up. £22k gets you a 22/23 car, saving around £4k against the equivalent RAV PHEV.

PHEV's and hybrids are all chains rather than belts. The PHEV's an evolution of the prince engine while the hybrid is the pure tech with a chain. Rented a hybrid C5 for a day and it was perfectly pleasant

If going for a Citroen C5 or Peugeot 3008, you need to go for one of the 1.6 PHEV models as these use the more reliable 1.6 Prince engine. The Prince engine has a bad rep, but most of it's problems were sorted by 2015 and new ones are now reliable. As for the 1.2 PureTechs, these still have a wet timing belt and the problems associated with that still haven't been sorted!

Approved used Peugeot 3008 in that nice shade of blue-green they come in

While you're looking at those two you might as well also consider the Vauxhall Grandland. Many people stick their noses up at them, but they are the same car as those above!

The equivalent is also true of Ford - with the Kuga, avoid their 1.0 Ecoboom hybrids and plump for the 2.5 litre models that use the much more reliable and proven Mazda L-series derived engines. Here's an approved used model

I'd avoid anything from Stellantis or Renault at this price range and go Toyota / Suzuki / Subaru

I habe seen scoobys range at a rally show and was really impressed by the build quality. Seats especially looked well crafted

C5 Aircross is, like most Citroens, a very specific drive. It's extremely soft and floaty, and can get a bit unsettled over rougher surfaces.

I didn't hate it (I've had them as hire cars) but coming from a Sportage you'll likely find it feels very squidgy for a while until you get used to it.

Skoda Kodiaq or Karoq would be the other suggestion I'd punt in at this point.

Depending on what you're doing with it, that or a CRV.

I'd guess the Across is the same, being a rebadged RAV4, but Toyota will extend the warranty to 10 years if serviced with them, and then on PHEV's they'll warranty the battery to 15 years with a years health check.

I found the RAV4 a little offroadery to drive (I learned to drive in a Landrover 110), and ended up going for a Lexus NX instead which is the same underpinnings but feels more car like to drive. Not sure how common the PHEV RAV4 would be in your price range though.

Depending on why you want an SUV, I found the CR-V seating position very car like, I prefer a seating position with my legs under me rather than out in front due to a bad back. The CR-V is more like a jacked up estate than an SUV in that respect.
