Nine days ago I sold an item marked as collection only, and the buyer paid straight away.
I messaged him asking when he'd like to come and collect it - no reply. Sent a reminder a couple of days later - no reply.
Nine days in and not a dicky-bird.
How long do I need to wait before re-advertising the item? (and can I keep the money if he never replies and never collects?)

You know very well you can't keep the money.I messaged him asking when he'd like to come and collect it - no reply. Sent a reminder a couple of days later - no reply.

Try raising a case with ebay if no reply.

You won't be able to keep the money as eBay won't release it to you until the buyer has confirmed collection with a code that eBay gives them.I messaged him asking when he'd like to come and collect it - no reply. Sent a reminder a couple of days later - no reply.

As mentioned above the best thing is to cancel the sale and eBay will automatically refund the "buyer".

It's already in my bank account. And it doesnt matter if the money is in your account, ebay can and will claw the money back.
This happend to me , I had contacted the buyer on three occasions asking him to collect. Eventually I listed= again and it sold as was collected. The original buyer contacted me two months later and was quite upset that I'd sold 'his' item. I refunded him.
So my advice, relist and sell it . Hold the original money in case he/she contacts you.
I avoid collections now as the majority are a pita.

Are you sure it went through as a collection item in that case?
Yep, advert says 'Collection in person only'I was surprised the funds were released too, but after a couple of days in my eBay account it was transferable.
I've relisted to item to increase chances of selling it; obviously if I have to cancel the first sale eBay are welcome to retrieve the funds or I'll send them back if they ask.

It's a safeguard to stop sellers pretending a buyer has collected the item.

Items sold under collection only will not have the funds released until the buyers says they've collected, or that you scan a QR code from them.
I receive the money after two or three days, whether I scan the code or not. When you say receive the money, do you mean it shows as funds in your eBay account?

The item was sold as collection only, as already mentioned. When you say receive the money, do you mean it shows as funds in your eBay account?
The funds were in my eBay account and after a few days I transferred them to my bank account.
The buyer has still not replied to my messages or made contact.
No QR codes etc are evident.
I'm aware of the 'give the code to get release the money' system but in this case it didn't seem to happen.
I also have the option to mark the item as 'Collected' which would presumably close the deal and secure the funds.
And that's where we are
