Sadly, a number of the older threads have non-working links to manufacturers/retailers of tailored car covers of decent quality and which won't cost the earth. Are there any personal recommendations or advice where to look? Last time i looked into this was well over a decade ago and it seems everyone and their dog are in this market now. Cheers.

Are you looking for an outside cover? And if so does it really have to be tailored? My last (£400+) tailored cover didn’t even make it to the 3 year mark before it started letting in water and neither did the previous 2 (both similar prices but different manufacturers/materials). I’ve now given up on expensive tailored covers and reconciled myself to getting cheap ones and changing them often.

I ended up with one of these (you need a large for a 992) and it frankly does the job as well if not better than any of the more expensive covers I’ve had. And it’s still going strong after 2 years.

Ideally, yeah. Had a few outdoor covers in the past which tended to survive quite a while (10+ years) before getting tatty and eventually crumbling but that is to be expected. Got a fox in the area that has taken a fancy to my convertible, paw marks on both sides as she comes and goes.

I cannot believe i have to look towards the States for something of decent quality at a reasonable price.

Have had similar problems with foxes. Even had one crap on my roof once. Cats are even worse: the claws can do proper damage to a convertible roof.

By the way I'd recommend avoiding anything advertised as "breathable". In my experience this means "not properly waterproof" which in turn means that rainwater will get in, dry and then leave a residue between the cover and the car. That's a recipe for paint damage.

Support every 992 model under the sun by the looks of it.

I disagree with this, make sure it's breathable to stop the build up of moisture/condensation, especially over the winter months when it's cold overnight and then sunny in the AM.

The only thing I would say is, only use a cover if it's your occasional car, not a daily.

My outgoing GT4 lived outside for the past 3 years. I used a cover for two reason; over the horrible winter months (when the car was on a trickle charge), and in the summer I used it to protect from the UV/pollen etc.

I had/have one of these, which I would thoroughly recommend. The Outdoor Pro (with Stormshield+). Breathable and a perfect bespoke fit:

When I had exactly that cover it was guaranteed for 3 years. I see it’s down to 1 year now? You can be pretty sure they changed it for a reason (obviously YMMV etc).

I stand by what I said re: breathable covers. Modern cars don’t fall apart with a bit of condensation, although frankly I’ve never noticed any less condensation under covers marketed as “breathable”. I’ve definitely seen more rainwater getting in to them though.

They don't do 992 ones.

I stand corrected - I hadn't noticed the extra drop down to select variant! doh!
I too recommend them albeit it did ruin the body work of my 944T - I think a car cover long term for years and years eventually has a negative outcome vs ceramic coating and good maintenance washes.

TBH, the 992.2 GT3 is in fact missing from the list and the one i needed lol. Seems they only list the .1. Of course, little difference but it's quite a comprehensive list and captures every iteration of each model too.
