I have come into some completely unexpected and unearned money, so it is largely guilt free albeit I could invest it.

I am 33, no kids or partner, small mortgage, decent salary and want for very little.

I currently have a Mk7 Golf R DSG, R53 Cooper S manual and an 02 A2, all of which I enjoy for different reasons and run all year round.

I could add a fourth or swap one out depending on the car. I don't have a garage but could arrange something for the right vehicle too.

Whatever it is I would like it not to bankrupt me if something goes wrong, not depreciate like a stone, and offer something different that I could take to events, and drive when all I am doing is just that. Possibly even tick off some dream boxes. If it was a drivable investment even better. Open to ideas.

Things that have crossed my mind:
F-Type cab
4C Spider
M4 Cabrio
M6
Elise
3200 Maserati
Morgan - 3 wheeler or 4/4

Dreamboats but scary
R8 V10 Manual
612 Ferrari
360 Ferrari
GranTurismo

What roles do the cars you currently have fill, and which one is furthest from fully filling that role?

I'd do £20k on an Elise / VX220 then £30k into FTSE100 passive fund.

Owner bias say a Lotus Elise/Exige, but without a garage, I would consider an Alpine A110 as I hear it's a decent drivers car (which I believe will cease production next year too so should keep prices firm).

I’d agree with something along these lines. Definitely a Lotus and an investment.

Alpine A110 or a good 911 or Cayster (given that everyone needs a flat six in their life at some stage. :-)

F-Type SVR or V8 Vantage - try both and see what you prefer.

He'll get one within budget, but might have to wait for one to come along. The one at JZM is nice, but I'd want buckets personally.

That's lovely, but you could also get an Emira for around that money too. So another option to consider perhaps?

I'm your age and bought a V6 Exige S earlier this year. There's nothing else for the money which gives the same experience. I'd hate to use it as a daily, but as a weekend toy it's awesome. I drove an S3 Elise 220 which was nice, but the engine felt really flat compared to the V6.

You could get a very nice 350 Sport in that budget and I doubt you'd lose much money at all.

Absolutely love mine.

Depends how much budget creep I guess, circa £56k for the cheapest Emira, then you are into 981 GT4 money.

Personally I'd go Exige 350, but I would want it garaged.

I'd second the Exige option:

M3 CS, this is actually a step up from the Competition & for me is worth the extra, also the M4 version is cheaper:

A bit over budget V12 Vantage:

DBS:

The Virage is a model that's often forgotten so it's a bit more sensibly priced:

Nice list from ZX

Put it towards a house with a garage so you can get something really nice like a Ferrari. Failing that, one of these should be ok living outside, but buy a good cover for them
