As I ve been sniffing rounded for a spyder rs, I ve got a mate interested in this

Now apart from thinking it looks lovely, does anyone know anything about this generation targa?

Is this one too expensive? Anyone add anything?

Porsche Newport have been offering this one about, a friend looked at it last week but said it wasn’t for them.

That doesn’t seem anywhere near as nice for some reason.

It’s a lovely spec and I know that Targa’s have been holding their money, a friend sold his 1 year old car for pretty much what he paid last year, but this looks strong money to me. I’m a manual fan, but not sure it’s the box of choice for most Targa owners. While I’m not wedded to OPC’s, it looks a premium price for a car outside the dealer network. Just my observations.

It’s the interior spec/options and exterior colour which is doing it. I think it’s circa £10k strong or so

Although it wouldn’t be my choice, there’s a lot to like, and can see the appeal.
And, in a world of autos, the relative rarity of the Manual gearbox should make it increasingly desirable.

I’ve actually thought of moving from a 992s to a manual targa. At first glance this example may seem expensive but in decent colour combo targa manuals are rare, hence the price. You can buy a 992 turbo for similar money but I think this is just “more 911”

I think it’s much cooler than a turbo, while also being a very classy spec.

That interior is exceptionally rare, be amazed if he isn't in for a very very long wait.

its a shame about the exterior on the first example, looks like a terrible colour choice? The car at Joe Macari looks pretty, it it had the right interior I think that'd fly!

this is nearly there, just far too punchy for a private sale

I have to say of all the 911 variants the one that is least driver focused is the Targa….heavy car with lots of weight in the wrong place which is why I assume they only make them in 4wd (add some weight at the front to counter act the increased weight at the back). That’s my theory anyway.

They are without doubt a great looking car…but for me it’s the car I’d be least worried about having a manual in.

Glasgow have got this PDK Aventurine Green car with Truffle Brown interior cool

I do love the look of a 991 or 992 Targa but…it seems to me they don’t remain with owners for very long and get churned on a regular and frequent basis.

I can’t speak from experience as I’ve never driven or owned one, I do own a manual 993 Targa which I really enjoy and have taken it on big trips across Europe so I sort of assume that I’ll eventually migrate to a more modern Targa but for now I have this hesitation as I think owners perhaps are soon disappointed with the reality of living with a modern Targa?

That TWG car in colour and spec is nice though…

I’m pretty sure the targa has a more rigid body than the coupe? All the reviews are positive, given how far on they are past useable road pace, it’s not an issue. The targa is the best looking and has a bit of theatre about it, manual just add I guess.

I'm sure they're a lovely drive but I think back to back with a 2wd coupe you'd know which feels more like a sports car going down a country road. Just for me that if you want the engagement of a manual gearbox you're probably the kind of driver who will notice an extra 150kg.

I suspect at plausible road speeds (even +25%) and the majority of non-professional drivers would ever tell the difference IRL.
I had a 977 Targ, and correct, it is not a GT3, but as a road car, suited the usec ase, great.

OP. I think a Targa is a great shout and the original spec listed above would be a very desirable , multi use, 911 variant.
