Does anyone have any spare tickets, passes? Or decent discount codes?

Hoping to go for all 3 days, so looking to try and save some money.

Have the discount code (FBCMS) which gives £2 off, but not really much of a saving and then with the car parking on top for 3 days!!!

Nope, I've only seen a couple of £2 off promotions with clubs, but that is less than the booking fee!

When you add parking to the entrance fee, burger and chips at £17, plus fuel to get there, it's a £200+ day out for a couple.

I was wondering why it was so expensive. I see that Birmingham Council sold the NEC for £300M. The the new owners quickly flipped it to some vulture capitalists for £800M The new-new owner now have some massive debt to service. I'd rather not contribute to that so, sadly. it's a miss for me. frown

I think the parking, as always is run privately, it is now borderline inhumanely expensive for such a popular location. I think the non advance discount cost is 18.75, which is pretty extraordinary really.

They lay on shuttle buses fair enough, but I think you could knock most of those on the head and encourage walking, leaving buses for those that genuinely need them. But I expect the same people running parking employ the drivers etc, it will be a racket.

It is the single biggest reason people do not visit the NEC, and the biggest complaint other than food prices.

The thing is, it's a venue you visit, like a gig, race track, motorway services, any time there is a captive audience you will be torn a new one with price increases, it is cheaper for me to get a return train from 50 miles away than pay the parking charge,

That in itself shows the level of con artistry going on with parking there

I totally 100% agree with your comments. I’m torn between making a stand and not going and missing out on an event or attend and feel mugged off. Unfortunately until the 2026 Autosport Show (not happening), the shows always seem to continue, because not enough people make the stand.

In my opinion I would’ve thought the power of the internet would stop all this ripping attendees off. As gets said repeatedly if the caravan & motorhome show can put on an event with cheap tickets and free parking, I don’t see why other events can’t. It’s not as if the stands are cheap for the traders attending.

Just got back from the show. On the plus side I parked in E5 for 23 hours for £12, on the downside I paid £130 for one night's stay in The Moxy Hotel to get the parking discount. Economics was never my strongest subject!

Try CCCNOV5512 for a discount code.

Parking is cheaper if you park at Birmingham International rail station and walk to the NEC (the walking route is covered).

Does anyone know why the NEC insist on parking cars for a given show at the opposite end of the site to the halls the show is in?

Just had a 20 minute hike from North 5 to hall 1, they couldn’t be much further apart!

You have to pay £26.95 to park nearer the venue, plus ‘Overstay charges apply after 1800hrs.’ yikeshttps://parking.thenec.co.uk/NECBirminghamBooking/...

Holy cow, and I thought they were taking the piss with the standard car park pricing!

Had a great day there yesterday.
Mate was selling in the auction so we had free tickets .
He’d rebooked parking (N5)at £13.95 so not too bad .

Some of the 80’s Ford’s were just amazing money !

I often think the Ford buyers are deluded, but you pay what you want to I guess, there is a lot of member measuring though, but I guess if values rise who cares. But 200 grand for a car made in a factory is bonkers, they look nothing special really and most will just sit and do nothing. As do most collectors cars sadly

I was having this conversation with a Lotus Carlton owner, given there were only ever 284 RHD Carlton’s made, vs 500 RS500’s, the fact RS’s now regularly trade for £300k+ but a clean Carlton is £100k is mad.

Wrird how names work.

Msport Focus, 393 grand, ful fat 6R4 arguably more collectable only 215, I guess the Focus is far rarer.

281k for that RS1800 is a joke sadly, but the RS2200 is fair surely, very rare colour

I’ve just looked at the health app on my phone, apparently I walked 7.8 miles on Saturday… that will explain the blister!

hehe

Epic show again, the sort of scale Autosport used to be before they turned it into a cash cow.

Always grieved me that it costs the exhibitors a lot to be the attraction for which the public paid to see. Nice for the organisers. I'm oot.
