Does anyone have any experience of the self-parking capability offered in the latest petrol-engined Macans?

Not for me (of course...) but it might help Mrs Wife's reservations about ordering a new one ("But it's too big....")

I specced it against the salesperson’s advice and haven’t had any joy with it in 4 years. It’s useless at car parks with pillars

One of my friends also had it and said it was great at getting it parked up in his house garage though

On my Taycan I’ve used to remote control parking to get the car into / out of an incredibly tight car parking space where I wouldn’t have been able to open the doors. But I’ve never used the auto parking feature, so have no idea how good (or bad) it is!

Not Macan but 992.2 911.

Was fitted to a demo car I had a few months ago. Self parking was pretty useless. The system would only ‘recognise’ a parking space (ie to activate the self park function) if it was a space between two parked cars. If you wanted to park in one of a row of empty spaces it would never activate.

When I could get it to recognise a parking space it worked really well, but it’s rare it would recognise a space in the first place.
