Hello,

Just in process of taking my 2008 Vantage V8 convertible off the road for the winter. During its last wash and polish before hibernation, I noticed that the lower right corner off the glass rear windscreen appears to have come away from the convertible hood. Since I only drive it with hood down whenever possible, this hadn’t been something I’d noticed. Something like 15cm along the bottom of the glass is clearly detached from the hood material.

Anyways, has anyone encountered a similar issue? Is it a straightforward DIY fix if so? And can anyone advise on the correct adhesive and steps to secure it back in place? Appreciate any advice, and clearly not a rush as it’s tucked up in garage now until the spring - but will be a welcome task one winter afternoon to get me out of the washing up…!

Thanks in advance.

I also have this issue on a 2010 4.7 and am looking for a good fix. So far all I’ve found it is simply fixing it with adhesive isn’t a good idea - allegedly it needs to be heat bonded and that likely requires roof removal. Hopefully someone knows more…

Hi I have a similar problem with my 07 Vantage Roadster, after much research I found out what they used in the factory, it's called Teroson PU6700. There is no mention of having to use heat in the usage instructions, however they do recommend using Teroson VR10 Bonding and Presealing Treatment. The PU6700 comes in a double side by side syringe with mixing tube so you will need one of those guns that pushes the two syringe pistons at the same time. I also had to reglue the roof material that is folded over on itself to neaten up the window aperture. Also get a kit of window clamps like these; https://www.amazon.com.au/Giant-Suction-Clamps-Con... to secure the window against the material once it has been glued.

Hope this helps,
regards,
Raoul

Hi Raoul - super helpful! Thanks very much for the advice - I’ll get on with finding the adhesive you mentioned and those clamps look like a good shout too. I think the double barrel guns can be found at screwfix IIRC. Thanks again very much! John

I’m going to give this a try. Found a uk suppliers similar for the clamps: Sealey Suction Clamp Set, 81mm x 258mm x 193mm, Blue, 6 Pieces - RE006 https://amzn.eu/d/8w4ApKK

Lots online but they get decent reviews and price seems fine. Look to be useful for other tasks too actually

I used black silicone to secure my rear window unto the black hood of my Audi TT. I guess you can get silicone in many colours

For sure - I just found the clamps and the teroson pu6700 and vr10 from uk sellers, so once it arrives I’ll get to work - will let you know, and I’ll pop the before and after pictures of my handiwork! (Let’s hope it looks neat or it’ll end up on the teeth itch thread in lounge…!)

Hi John,
One last tip, don't cut the nozzle of the mixing nozzle too big, I cut mine so it was around 3mm in diameter.
Cheers,
Raoul

Had this happen twice on the rear screen of my 2010 DBS Volante. First time was repaired by an independent and it lasted for a year or so. Second time was done by an AM dealer and it has (touch wood) lasted over two years. They told me that the next time it happens it will require a complete new hood. Not sure why that should be the case unless they've used a compound which cannot be removed to allow another repair.

I avoid leaving the car in the sun now whenever possible, I'm pretty sure that accelarates it.
