I don't think this man has any respect for Labour whatsoever after last night! He called that ghoulish NuLabia European Minister an arrogant twit (or similar), when asked for an apology, he said that under the circumstances, he thought his response was moderate!!
I don't normally get excited about this program, but last night's was a gem! The arrogance of the top people in Labour really shown!

I didn't see QT last night (no TV!) but it sounds just like the Conservatives before they lost some 10 years ago. They were all smug arrogant b@stards as having been in power for so long they had forgotten they were there to serve the people....not the other way around.
Sounds like Mr B. Liar and his band of merry thieves are making the same mistakes........PLEASE LET THIS BE TRUE!

A very eloquent and definitely 'non-PC' speaker, who I thoroughly applauded. His denigration of Nu Labia was superb.

Wasn't he fantastic - a real heavyweight intellect against a squirming, snivelling little New Labour kiddy. Talk about lamb to the slaughter.

I also thought his point that if the Tory's started to vote with the government on those policies which New Labour nicked from them in the first place then the core Labour MPs would have no choice but to revolt, was very valid.

Whole prog available to view again on the Question Time web site.

About time we had a service like this from 'Auntie'. How much longer will the TV licence last?

It was a refreshing change to hear such sensible and truthful comments from David Starkey last night. He summed up New Labour accurately and had the Labour Minister on the panel squirming with embarrasment.

I doubt he'll be back though - the BBC Newsnight screening process for audience and panel will ensure that anyone with the audacity to criticise the New Labour project to that extent will not appear again.

Why do you say that?

I see no evidence of "silencing" going on on programmes like Question Time.

I enjoyed Starkey's contribution - although he probably did step outside the normal QT Rules of Engagement.

Does anyone listen to the Radio 4 equivalent, "Any Questions". It's hosted by Jonathan Dimbleby and will be on tonight (with a repeat tomorrow afternoon). It's just as good as QT - with the added bonus of a phone in follow up half hour called "Any Answers".

What's worrying is, if Labour show this much contempt for anyone who 'isn't with them' in public, what the hell are they like away from the cameras and press!!

Damn! Missed it. But I see the New labour weasel was Douglas Alexander. He's very very New Labour, the type that will lick Tony's shoes clean every evening, but he normally performs well on TV. Good for Starkey.

He's on fairly regularly. Each time it's purely self promotional however - usually a book or tv series on the way. He's a fantastically dislikeable invididual it seems. His usual approach is to be personally rude to someone which usually causes a stir and gets him the publicity he likes... Sad but true from what I've seen of the man. (he did this on newsnight to another MP (not sure which party) about 3 months ago).

Like his history progs though - though sharma is more listenable to - Starkey sounds like that teacher that nobody liked at school!

Likeable or not, it was refreshing to see a man standing up to these obnoxious lying twerps, fighting fire with fire.

I wasn't that impressed. For an intellectual I thought his descent into name calling was rather childish (whatver my opinion of the MP was).

like him or loathe him, 'twas good to see alexander squirm. as to calling him a little twit, i didn't realise he held new labour in such high regard.

give that man some more air time please. question time it is going to get pretty entertaining over the next few years as the economy splutters and new labour's lease expires.

Eloquently said. I view Starkey as driven by his own ego, and his need to belittle anyone else he is in debate with, rather than make any useful political contribution. Shame, from such an intelligent individual really...
