Long story short is that we are basically re-branding our company, new suppliers, products etc and a with this comes a new site which is under development. In the coming months we will need SEO/PPC marketing help to get the wheels in motion. We are familiar with the industry and our selling platforms so we aren't a new business but as sales grow and we see results from marketing we can start to then increase the budget.

Having a look online is overwhelming, with every site claiming to do the same, so any calls I make are basically pot luck.

Hence why I am here, are there members who are looking for some freelance work?
Our industry is online sports retail so if you have expertise in that sector then thats an advantage.

Initially we would be looking around £600/£700 a month budget but hope to increase that after a few months.

If there are no freelance options then we would consider working with a small firm who come recommended by members.

Tread very carefully - i work for an ecom agency and although we have very good client retention, inevitably we have lost some over the years and very often the new agency doesn't do basic stuff like redirecting key landing pages and as a result traffic/sales will tank.

Google seems better at handling site migrations now but if you have a lot of history on your old domain/pages it's very valuable so you don't want to abandon it.

Also, anticipate a short term dip in sales from the rebrand - are you changing name or just branding? Even with just branding it seems there is often a short term dip - previous customers remember what your site/logo looked like and seem to get spooked/go elsewhere when it changes.

Just my 2p.

At £700 per month nobody worth their salt is going to do a good job, especially if you split across SEO and PPC. Some will disagree but hey ho.... I would avoid all "agencies" if that is your budget, maybe you can find an effective freelancer, but that would probably not cover even 2 days work per month if they are pricing themselves correctly.

True, the PPC spend would be additional to the £700.

We might have to increase the budget a bit, possibly £1000 to get it going.
We have invested heavily in stock and the set up so once sales start flowing in and capital is building up we can increase the budget, especially when the marketing starting kicking in and generating the additional sales..

Can anyone recommend a site where we can look for reliable freelancers?

There is the likes of FIverr etc but from past experience most of the members on there seem to be from India!

Sites which are "marketplaces" for freelancers are just a race to the bottom, nobody worth engaging will be found in these sorts of places.

If you have say £1k and then some Google Ads budget on top then it starts to get into the territory where there might be someone who knows what they are actually doing.

I'd get the PPC going first, then use that to inform the SEO campaign on where the business actually is.

SEO is a hot mess right now, most SEO agencies don't know what their offer is and how to get things ranked with the AI overviews etc, think of oil tankers that take time to stop or turn. With that budget you need a consultant/freelancer and not an agency.

Much of what is talked about with AI is just hype also, which makes your task even harder when finding someone who is not a total grifter. Google still is king and most business online is done through it if we are talking about "Search" but perhaps today I would also throw in Youtube!

Linkedin is probably where I'd turn if you don't have any good recommendations to find someone, failing that drop me a line.
