I recently had the opportunity to spend a week with a McLaren 750S Spider on a road trip in Scotland.

Here is a summary of the "SSO Report" review:

Having a great car on an epic trip made it incredibly special and highly memorable. While it did take a bit of creative packing, the 750S Spider had just enough luggage room for the two of us for the week. While I can t point at any one element in particular, this 750S Spider felt like it had a few subtle improvements on the 750S coupe that we had driven in 2024. The 750S Spider mappings for the handling and powertrain settings are a great leap forward vs. the earlier 720S and make it a more engaging car to drive. The climate control system works flawlessly, and we were never even remotely uncomfortable. Having heated seats was a nice bonus and allowed us stay quite comfortable, even with the roof open when the temperatures dropped late in the day. The steering, sightlines, braking, and acceleration are all world class.

If you did this in the last week or so I think I saw you near Forfar, can't be many 750S in that colour around here. If so the car certainly had a presence, both myself and the wife were suitably impressed as we passed.

That colour looks great.
Reviews don't seem to imply the 750 is noticeably different to a 720. So intresting that you feel the power delivery is improved.

I owned both a 720S Coupe and a 720S Spider. I do think the 750S Spider is a definite improvement. It splits the gap between the 720 & 765 nicely.

One thing I wanted to know after reading your blog, did you really manage to get your luggage in the frunk ?

Exactly the same here. Had both a 720s Coupe and spider before the 750 spider, it's a better car with improved performance and better build quality. I've had it nearly 2 years and am normally looking to change about now but there's nothing in the sector currently that comes close for me.

What a lovely thing. I see McMan have a 750 coupe for £193k now. Not the wildest spec, but what a machine for less than a 675LT and most if not all of the performance and more. I’m always torn as I think the spider is the only convertible super car that can pull it off, with no wobbles and shakes. So why would you get the coupe…

Torn. The spiders are out of my budget but the coupes are just on. Top end of 720 spider market is £170k for a 2022. Bottom end of 750 spider market is £220k.
