Looks like I'm going on an extended trip over winter.
Just about to hand my notice in and get away for the winter months.
Obvious place is south east Asia as it's cheap and hot but been to a lot of it a few times (Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Burma).
Never been to the Philippines yet - was thinking of maybe just exploring there only but if I can do a stopover there and back I would obviously see more.

Thought maybe going to Goa first to chill out by the beach first or ??

Needs to be cheaper places for accomodation/food, etc due to the length of time away

Any ideas/inspiration welcome !

You'll have to a bit more specific I think. With over 7600 islands you have a lot of choice. City, beach, expat orientated, bars or nature, nightlife or relaxation?
I live here so can only impart what little I know.

There isn’t much for tourists to see and do in Manila, but Air Asia has very cheap tickets to many parts of the country from there.

El Nido in Palawan is on my shortlist! Heard lots of good things.

It was more about stop offs before and after really, I will tour around the islands when I'm there.

Ok no one's suggested any stop offs so I'll change the question on 'where to go in the Philippines' !!

I want beaches, scenery, travel through scenic areas, obviously need places to go out occasionally at weekends so some bar places.

Just read an article about the Luzon region which looks great.

Need to try to go north to south (or vice versa) or create some round route. Could be up to 3 months duration.
