Does anyone have any experience of these, more so desktop or 'near field' etc?

The ADAM D3Vs I had were superb until they went pop rolleyes Sent them back to Amazon for a full refund

Thinking I'll try audiophile spec speakers this time around rather than monitors and the KEF LSX's interest me due to their size and simplicity etc - but also a big fan of KEF having had their LS50s a few times and most recently their R3s (not Meta's) and they were absolutely superb

Ideally I'll be putting them on my desktop on RoXdon isolation pads being fed via my M4 Mac Mini (I may look into an external DAC in the near future) but for now I just want plug n play

Any other suggestions in/around/under £500-£600 would be welcomed smile - Just not Q Acoustics please; not a fan at all, tried their speakers many times and never gelled with them

KEF have just released a new active speaker that might be worth looking at. In their promotional materials they show it being used in near field. https://uk.kef.com/pages/coda-w

I’ve had mine coming up on 4 years cracking speakers.

On small stands on my desk connected to my old Technics CD player and the PC via optical.

Added a small Rel sub last year.

Very occasionally use via Bluetooth.

I have a pair of LSX's and they are extremely good.

However I raced through a bit of an upgrade and bought a pair of LS60's within months of buying the LSX's - so the new LSX's sit unused in a study.

The imagery of the LSX's are exceptional, the bass is excellent - very slightly overkill for near-field listening, but I think you'll be blown away by them.

I use ROON to control my speakers, so can't really comment on how good the app is, but it seems pretty stable.

Brilliant; thanks for that

I'll keep my eye on some sets on eBay and see what they end up going for; quite partial to the sage green ones biggrin

I was so impressed with the pair of LSX speakers I bought for downstairs. A few weeks later, I bought another pair for upstairs. I really like their sound.

For now I’ve gone for these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edifier-MR4-Powered-Speak...

Only because I have Edifier speakers in my garage and they’re very good; but also cannot make my mind up whether to go for the likes of the KEFs, or maybe move a step up from my previous JBL 308P MkII studio monitors and look at the ADAM or Focal range c£1k upwards, in the New Year

I did pop by my cousins today to see how he is after some bad health news and he has the active LS50s for his stereo set up with a Rega TT and a Wiim streamer and they do sound absolutely fantastic; but far too big for my desk…

Tempting though biggrin

Let us know what you think of them, I've got the MR5 on my shortlist for black Friday.

I considered those also, but a bit too big for what I want currently

But will update once I’ve got them connected/set up etc

The Edifier speakers have landed; set them up on my desk on top of the RoXdon isolation pads - simple Amazon ‘basics’ speaker cable between them rather than the bell wire that’s provided and an Audioquest 3.5mm to RCA lead from my Mac into the main speaker

Only listened to a few tracks so far but finding them to be very good indeed; a great size and a big sound from them

I paid £79 on eBay UK, brand new as there’s a 20% discount running currently
