Richard Hammond's motorcycle collection.

I am not sure I'll watch it, but good to see a Katana there. Those Triumphs remind me of the cover of Steve McQueen.
Errr.......I am slow. Those Triumph's remind me of the cover of Prefab Sprout's album Steve McQueen which I've owned longer than I'd care to remember, but I've just realised it's a reference to The Great Escape. I watched the Guy Martin Great Escape docu-recreation last year too. I am too slow to be riding motorcycles. 'Everyday is a school day...

I only had a quick scan through but I like the look of his collection. If I had the money and space I'd love a collection like that; lots of different stuff not just rows of the same kind of thing!
We had an SS80 Brough the same as his, which was a magical thing. It made you feel genuinely special to ride it. His Norton cafe racer looks very similar to mine, albeit I prefer mine (which is the idea with specials!).
I always quite liked Hammond, and it's nice to see he seems to be a genuine enthusiast

I can't watch it because of him.
I appreciate I have an irrational and unfounded dislike for the man in the extreme. I just see entitled and not genuine in everything about him .
Shame as it has interesting motorbike content and I can't put aside my illogical bias.
I'm not the biggest fan. When it comes to bikes, I think his passion for them is genuine and I feel that comes across in anything I've seen him talk about them and feel it does in the video too.I appreciate I have an irrational and unfounded dislike for the man in the extreme. I just see entitled and not genuine in everything about him .

i have found him better since leaving TG and the GT, his daughter Izzy puts him in his place quite regularly I appreciate I have an irrational and unfounded dislike for the man in the extreme. I just see entitled and not genuine in everything about him .

Great collection...and he ends with 2 Indians, which is nice.
Few errors in what he's saying with the Chief - he says as standard it had a left hand throttle and a right hand advance retard. Sort of, but not really. The very earliest Indians were like that, take it or leave it. But by the time the later Chiefs came along you had a choice of standard or 'reversed' controls - it was a tick-box on the order form. Reversed controls means a right hand throttle, AND left hand gear change. His bike has a left hand gear change so unless someone has swapped that (which is always possible) then it left the factory with a right hand throttle...as many did by the 40s. The only part required when swapping throttle and advance retard over was the gear change lever; for the twistgrip controls (no springs in there; push-pull piano-wires) you'd just swap over the ends at the carb and distributor (yes, Indian Chiefs have distributors).
But I remember most of the bikes in there, certainly the ones from the 60s/70s on. Not much in there I wouldn't have, funds and space permitting.
