2.0 TDI 140, throwing P0121. Any experiences please?

Assuming the potentiometer in the pedal is breaking down but not really sure how to confirm?

Get something that can read live data such as VCDS and prove/disprove it.

Going to pick up a VCDS cable tomorrow. Obviously I can look at the live data from the pedal but what can I look at for the throttle body?

My Son has a 1.4 tsi golf that had a throttle fault though it was P2138 'Accelerator Position Sensor'.

I believe P0121 is 'Throttle Position Sensor' and I would think the TPS is in the throttle body rather than the pedal?

Ours was cured with a new pedal which cost, IIRC around £125. I would suggest further investigation required before buying parts.

Sometimes the throttle body, sometimes the wiring to the pedal

I had the same code, which was solved by the garage adding longer wiring. I believe vw sell a kit.

They said that under acceleration the engine was tugging on the wires as it moved and causing the code to ping.

That’s a new one on me! Can I ask what car it was and what mileage? Ours has just hit about 80k I think. Weird how it would suddenly just start now.

Have seen posts online (Scirocco groups) of this code and it was solved by cleaning the throttle body from soot/carbon
