First question would be do you want a small daily driver sized van like a VW Transporter or Transit Custom, or a full sized van like the Sprinter or Transit?

If it were me I'd be looking at a Transit Custom if you were going small, there's plenty of pre-made interiors for them and there isn't the price premium/scene tax as with the VW vans.

If you wanted to go as cheap as possible there's also the Renault Trafic and its badge engineered twins.

Going full size, the Sevel 'Ducato' vans are usefully cheaper than more fashionable Sprinters and Crafters, plus are wider and squarer so slightly easier to convert.

Big plus for a Transit is you can get RWD (or AWD) versions.

The main problem with cheap vans is you are competing against tradesmen for work vans so you are paying decent money for a knackered van with moon mileage.

What does that even mean? Living permanently/ full time, or just a holiday vehicle, or a weekend cuppa vehicle?
