I'm thinking about getting an old Civic, probably a gen 6, will I have trouble getting spares, not just consumables but stuff like suspension arms, bushes, and other breakable bits. Am I worrying too much, or should I avoid such an old car?

It's not finding spares for an MB or an EK that would be worrying me, it's the condition of the underside, they were horrendous for corrosion
even back in the day when they 4 or 5 years old, finding one that's not rotten will be your main challenge.

Does anyone know where to possibly get a Head Gasket kit for a 2.2 Prelude, its a Year 2000 car?

Or any websites or companies that potentially have new old stock etc?

TIA

I had one before that died of rust, they were cheap and plentiful then! I think these days any that survive will have been looked after, so shouldn't be too rusty. Fingers crossed!

If you want to keep one as a forever car there are always ways and means.

Mrs D had the underside of her S2000 steam cleaned, all the liners and bumpers removed, dinitrol sprayed and injected everywhere.

It wasn't cheap but every time I get it up in a ramp it feels like money well spent.

South Western rustproofing if you want a recommendation. I believe they can weld also if the steam cleaning reveals... Issues.

Gen 6 Civics are still pretty easy to live with. Most spares like suspension arms, bushes, and other common breakable parts are widely available aftermarket and even used. You might have to hunt a bit for rarer trims, but overall parts support is still good. If the car’s been well looked after, there’s no real reason to avoid one just because of age.

Thanks, I ended up buying it, see my other thread for pics. It's an mb.
