Without this becoming a "for sale" thread, where would you head to online if looking to buy a classic bike (ducati in this instance)?
I've just done a paid for advert on Cars and Classics for a bike I'mlookingto sell, is AT still worth a shot or more for mainstream sports bikes?
PH itself used to be good for selling, last time I looked it seemed like they'd made it very hard work to use the facility.

If I were looking for a Ducatii, I would try https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/

Thank you.
I've just searched some similar threads and MCN was also mentioned, I'll have a look there too.
It appears PH classifieds is cars only now and mainly aimed at pushing their auctions, unless I'm doing something wrong, and the "marketplace" PH thread for bikes gets very few posts or replies which is a shame.

You might need to join but the Ducati Owners' Club GB could be worth checking out.

Many auction houses run online auctions now. And all houses run online bidding for their live auctions.

That’s where I’d be looking to sell (and do look to buy). Which auction house would depend what market the bike’s likely to appeal to.

I think Bonhams have an online winter auction. Look past the fees; they draw on a wide and international pool of bidders so you’re likely to get more in your pocket even after any fees and commissions are taken out.

Not really considered an Auction before tbh, I'll have a nosey at what's going through and what they are achieving. I've seen SP models going through Auction but not so much the more regular bikes.

Not sure what classic means but this place may be worth a call.
Call rather than website it's a very quirky place .

If it’s in any way special it might be worth giving

I tend to look at;

Car and classic
Facebook Marketplace
Ebay
Auctions
biketrader
MCN classifieds

Probably in that order!

If I were to sell, if anything remotely special I think it would go on car and classic and if not fb marketplace.

Edited to add, lots of facebook groups for bike specific models but from ads I see on these, you are preaching to the converted and they always seem to bizarrely run the value into the ground despite owning the same bike possibly in the hopes of picking up a second one cheap wink whereas first time punters who are lusting after one might not even be on those groups yet.

How much actually gets bought and sold via carandclassic?

I often see the same bikes hanging about on there for a long, long while. Admittedly I know some people are just flying a kite and aiming high to see if it goes but I’ve never actually bought anything off there and can’t think of anyone I know mentioning they have either.

I actually bought this from an advert on there originally, but you are right some bikes tend to hang around. I'm in no rush anyway, it goes into a dry storage perma bag over winter usually anyway, I've put it on the ducati forum and a few fb specific groups for now to see if any interest.

If you want a specific model of bike, Facebook groups can be worth joining.
Some owners clubs are good, you could post a wanted ad.

You can talk to dealers.
You could talk to importers, particularly if you're looking for a project.

Ebay is not what it was, but still worth a look.

I spend a lot of my life scrolling through C&C (or exchanging links with mates) but I'd never really thought about it until this thread. Not heard of anyone (apart from you now hehe) actually buying or selling anything with it!

My last 5 bikes came from...

FB
C&C
Subito.it
Collecting cars auction (out of auction while still running)
ebay

I've bought at least 4 bikes from C&C over the years.
